In this role, you willleverageyourNaval operational and acousticexpertiseto support the design, development, and delivery of advancedsonar tactical decision aids (TDAs)and related tools. Youwill collaborate with software developers, analysts, and fleet users to ensure tactical realism, operational relevance, and technical excellence in Leidos' undersea warfare products.

This position offers a unique opportunity to directlyimpactFleet readiness and undersea dominance by applying youranti-submarinewarfare (ASW)knowledge andacoustic intelligence(ACINT)experienceto real-world mission systems.

WhatYou'llWork On


  • Serveas thesubjectmatterexpert (SME)for the tactical applicability and usage of theSTAPLE Toolkit (STK).

  • Participateindevelopment planning,functional system testing, andprogramverificationtests (PVTs)at development or fleet facilities.

  • Leadthecreation and management of user documentation, including new STK User Guides and major revisions to Analyst Guides and training materials.

  • SupportSTK-Next Generation (STK-N)user interface (UI)/user experience (UX)design and evaluation, ensuring user-centered functionality aligned with fleet needs.

  • Conducttraining sessions and user demonstrationsfor fleet users and senior-level commands.

  • Collaboratewithcross-functional development teamsto ensure operational accuracy in acoustic models, sensors, and system interfaces.

  • Prepareand deliverdetailed briefings and analysesto fleet stakeholders and external organizations.

  • Provideoperational insight intoASW system performance, sonar data interpretation, and tactical employment strategies.

  • Applyproject and team management skillsto coordinate tasking, track progress, and ensure on-time delivery of system upgrades, documentation, and training.



Primary Responsibilities


  • Applyin-depthASW, acoustic, and oceanographic knowledgeto system design, testing, and evaluation.

  • Performfunctional and verification testingof sonar decision aid software across multiple system configurations.

  • Collaboratewith developers totroubleshoot, verify, andvalidatesystem functionality and user interface improvements.

  • Leadsmall project teams or task elements, providingproject management oversight, scheduling, and coordination across internal and external stakeholders.

  • Developandmaintaintraining materials, user guides, and operational procedures.

  • Interfacewithgovernment customers, fleet representatives, and partner organizationsto gather feedback and align capabilities with user needs.

  • Travel(up to 25%) to fleet sites or test facilities for demonstrations, training, and system testing.



Basic Qualifications


  • 12+ years of fleet operational experiencedirectly relatedto ASW operations, systems, and theory in lieu of degree;ORbachelor's degree in mathematics, physics, acoustics, oceanography, or engineeringand 10+ yearsofdirectly relatedASW operational experience.

  • Significantat-sea experience evaluating acoustic data.

  • Familiaritywithrecentundersea warfaretactics,acoustic sensors, andbeamforming principles.

  • Strongbackground inACINT,acoustic theory,andoceanography.

  • ExperienceperformingPVTs or functionalsystemtests.

  • Demonstratedproject or team management experience, including planning, task delegation, and coordination across engineering or fleet teams.

  • Provenability tobuild strong working relationshipsacross multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Activesecurity clearance.


DesiredQualifications


  • ExperiencewithSTAPLE Toolkit (STK)or related undersea warfare tactical decision aids.

  • Excellentoral and written communication skills, including technical documentation and stakeholder briefings.

  • Experiencecreatinguser guides, training materials, and conducting technical instruction.

  • Familiaritywithsoftware development processesanduser interface (UI/UX) design.

  • KnowledgeofFleet acoustic analysis tools.
