Management/Leadership Req #: 82382 Summary: The Peer Services Supervisor will provide direct support to Maine Behavioral Healthcare (MBH) clients as well as maintain responsibility for the supervision of Peer Support Specialists, Family Support Specialists, and/or Youth Support Specialists at MBH. This individual must identify as having lived experienced related to the position and have experience practicing one-on-one and/or group peer support. * * The supervisory component of this position includes the hiring, direct supervision, management of workloads, team building, approval of timesheets and mileage reimbursement, and all other supervisory responsibilities for peer staff. This also includes one-on-one supervision as well as group supervisions with local program managers. The Peer Services Supervisor will work collaboratively to resolve complex challenges with program managers and MBH leadership. The direct support component of this positon includes providing one-on-one peer support, group facilitation and participating as a team member in the local program. * * The position includes coverage and support to other peer services at MBH, as determined necessary by the Director of Peer Services. The position's primary role is to provide competent, peer-valued, supervision to peer support staff at MBH, and may extend to various locations across the MBH and MaineHealth footprint. Therefore, reliable transportation and willingness to travel are necessary for this position, as well as the ability to efficiently navigate technology and computers Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a specialization in psychology, behavioral health, social work, special education, counseling, rehabilitation, nursing or closely related field is strongly preferred.
- License/Certifications: Training with subsequent certification, which could include certification as an Intentional Peer Support Specialist, Recovery Coach, Parent Peer Support or Youth training and certification. Valid driver's license with vehicle available for work covered by liability insurance as specific by agency policy required.
- Experience: 1+ years in a peer support role. 1+ Experience in Group Facilitation and/or one-on-one peer support. Some experience with supervisory/management experience is preferred.
- A demonstrated commitment to the mission, vision and values of Maine Behavioral Healthcare
- A commitment to the ongoing education to all stakeholders on the importance and values of peers in the provision of healthcare services
- A personal history of recovery, a wellness or change story that guides peer relationships is required. For Family support specialist supervision, relevant lived experience of caregiving a child with emotional challenges is required. For substance use recovery supervision, having lived experience of substance use recovery.
- Sufficient understanding of mental health and general health practices as well as an appreciation for an integrated approach to healthcare delivery
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Broad based computer skills
- Knowledge of behavioral health systems in Maine
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- An ability to work in a flexible, multi-dimensional and fast paced environment.
- Ability to advocate and support change in a respectful, inclusive manner is required.
