About the Department

The Twin Cities campus of the University of Minnesota Medical School consists of 19 Clinical departments and 6 Basic Science departments. It was determined approximately 20 years ago that an effective model was needed to support departments regardless of size with the expertise required to manage all aspects of this complex organization structure. Currently there are six Clinical administrative centers and two Basic Science administrative centers. The range of departments per center is 1 to 4 and is dependent on size, scope, and in some cases natural connection of departments. Each administrative center provides administrative services to clusters of departments at the University of Minnesota Medical School.
