Trade & Transportation Compliance Analyst

Compensation: $23.00 - $24.00 per hour

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Support the Trade & Transportation Compliance team by managing and validating supplier and shipment data to ensure accurate records and adherence to regulatory requirements. The role also involves analyzing handling compliance documentation and certifications and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain audit readiness and resolve data issues. The role requires a self-motivated team player who can manage multiple projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Solicit and manage supplier-provided origin data, Free Trade Agreement (FTA) documentation, and Harmonized Tariff Code (HTC) information to support trade compliance requirements.

  • Compile, cleanse, validate, and maintain trade data for upload into trade compliance, ERP, or third-party systems.

  • Assign and validate UN identification numbers for hazardous materials shipments in accordance with DOT, IATA, and IMDG regulations.

  • Perform detailed data entry and review of supplier Safety Data Sheets (SDS), FTA certificates, and related compliance documentation.

  • Compile and analyze import and export data to identify and support duty refund opportunities.

  • Collect and verify shipment data from carrier and shipping platforms to support compliance for low-value and express shipments.

  • Classify products in accordance with the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), under supervision.

  • Manage customer requests for Free Trade certificates by compiling required data, qualifying products under applicable FTAs, and issuing certificates in a timely manner.

  • Maintain organized records and audit trails to support internal controls, audits, and regulatory inquiries.

  • Collaborate with logistics, sourcing, legal, and compliance teams to resolve data gaps and ensure regulatory alignment.

  • Other responsibilities and projects to support the Trade Compliance team, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or related science

  • Minimum of 1 years of Trade Compliance, Customs Brokerage, Import/Export, Transportation, and/or Regulatory related experience

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Experience in managing and analyzing large data sets

  • Experience in reading and interpreting regulations

Preferred:

  • Three years experience in Trade Compliance, Customs Brokerage, Import/Export, and/or Regulatory

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Experience with import and export

  • Familiarity and general understanding of Free Trade Agreements (NAFTA, CAFTA, AUSFTA, etc.)

  • Familiarity and general understanding of Harmonized Tariff Schedules

  • Familiarity and general understanding of Hazardous Materials Transportation

  • Experience in tariff classification of chemicals

  • Customer service experience
