The US Oncology Network is looking for an Remote Digital Strategy and Financial Operations Summer Intern to support our Corporate IT Team. This is a full-time summer internship with a schedule of M - F, 8:00am - 5:00pm.

What does the Digital Strategy & Financial Operations Summer Intern position do?

This role will serve as a key support function across Texas Oncology's Digital Strategy & Governance portfolio, contributing to financial operations, strategic planning, and cross-functional coordination. The intern will act as a key resource, supporting cost transparency efforts, advancing digital initiatives, and helping coordinate across technology, clinical, and business stakeholders. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.


Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support financial cost modeling efforts, including building and refining cost analysis frameworks and improving overall financial hygiene
  • Translate existing financial and operational frameworks into scalable, easy-to-use templates for repeatable analysis and reporting
  • Assist in developing and maturing technical capability ownership frameworks across key domains
  • Partner with stakeholders across IT, Legal, Finance, and Clinical teams to evaluate new solutions and support digital initiatives
  • Contribute to advancing digital strategy efforts, with exposure to healthcare innovation, AI initiatives, and clinical delivery transformation
  • Provide operations leadership (prep materials, track action items, align stakeholders across multiple workstreams)
  • Help drive structure, organization, and follow-through across key initiatives where coordination is critical

Time Allocation (Approximate):

  • 30-35% - Financial modeling, cost analysis, and expense transparency initiatives
  • 20-25% - Framework development (technical capabilities, templates, maturity models)
  • 20-25% - Digital strategy support (AI, clinical innovation, solution evaluations)
  • 15-20% - Operations leadership (meetings, materials, stakeholder alignment)

Additional Areas of Exposure / Impact:

  • Work directly with senior IT and clinical leadership on enterprise-level decision making
  • Gain visibility into vendor evaluations, governance (SteerCo), and security processes (ISRM)
  • Support cross-functional initiatives that span clinical, operational, and technology domains
  • Help shape scalable processes that will be reused across the broader TxO IT organization

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience:

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Systems, Engineering, Analytics, or related field.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft 365 tools such as Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, or OneDrive.
  • Familiarity with cloud/IT cost concepts (AWS/Azure basics), Power BI/Tableau, SQL
  • Exposure to process improvement, workflow design, or automation projects.
