Job Summary:  Generally responsible for cleaning of all buildings and common areas of the campus. 
 
Responsibilities:  

• Cleans and maintains cleanliness of all areas used by College community  
• Collects and disposes of trash and debris 
• Utilizes chemicals and equipment in a sensible manner
• Other responsibilities as assigned by group leader or director 

Duties:  

• Sweeps, mops and scrubs floors, stairs and other surfaces 
• Vacuums and spot cleans carpets 
• Cleans, services and restocks lavatories 
• Collects trash and debris and places in designated collection area for removal by waste collector 
• Replaces liners in wastebaskets and trash containers 
• Cleans stoves, microwaves and refrigerators as directed 
• Cleans or dusts glass and other exposed surfaces including walls, window sills, cases,  phone booths, door trim, chalkboards and furniture 
• Sweeps porches, steps and sidewalks to clear debris and snowfall and applies ice melt as required 
• Reports all hazardous conditions to the appropriate supervisor especially as it relates to snow removal 
• Reports items in need of repair to the appropriate supervisor 
• Maintains equipment in clean, usable condition 
• Uses cleaning chemicals in a responsible manner 
• Ensures chemicals are safely and properly stored after each use and that correct labels are applied 
• Moves furniture, supplies and miscellaneous equipment as directed 
• Maintains floor finishes  
• In emergency, may be directed to clean up spills, floods and other related items. 
• Cleaning of Bio spills (bathrooms, blood, vomit etc.)
• Availability to be on site during events occasionally (evening/Weekends)
• All other duties related to custodial work as assigned 

Qualifications:  

• At least 1 year experience in housekeeping/janitorial services, preferably in a residence or similar environment 
• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions 
• Must be able to push and lift a maximum of 20 lbs  
• Must be able to read instructions and safety rules, write sentences, communicate verbally and follow instructions 
• Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide 
• Must be able to walk, stoop, bend, crouch, sit, kneel, climb, reach and crawl
