What makes Gartner Research Board a GREAT fit for you? The Gartner Research Board (GRB) is a division of Gartner dedicated to critically thinking about the strategic issues confronting technology executives at the world's largest, most complex organizations (global companies and government agencies). Today, our clients face daunting obstacles including disruption from startups, the rise of entirely new business models, geopolitical headwinds, and AI-enabled transformation efforts. The mission of the GRB is simple: to carry out the big-picture, forward-looking conceptual thinking about such obstacles that CIOs, CTOs, CISOs, and other technology executives faced with pressing strategic concerns do not always have the time or bandwidth to do. We place a high level of trust in our associates and expect them to rise to the occasion. You'll be successful at the GRB if you are creative and curious; an independent thinker and a team player; a fast learner and a great writer. SRAs come from a spectrum of backgrounds, including public policy, economics, sociology, engineering, journalism, the sciences, and history. No matter what their background, a successful SRA is someone who loves to think critically and deeply.

As a Senior Research Analyst, you will contribute to strategic research focused on the challenges facing the world's largest enterprises.

You will work closely with peer researchers and research product owners to identify meaningful patterns, develop evidence-based perspectives, and translate findings into insights relevant to senior technology executives. Research topics often involve competing perspectives, limited precedent, and rapidly evolving markets where there are no obvious answers.

Senior Research Analysts serve as key contributors who help shape research direction, develop hypotheses, generate original insights, and drive critical components of study execution. While not a requirement of every assignment, Senior Research Analysts may also lead research studies based on business need, topic complexity, and individual experience.

What You'll Do
  • Contribute to the design, execution, and delivery of strategic research studies.

  • Conduct primary research through executive interviews, member discussions, surveys, and ecosystem engagement.

  • Conduct secondary research across industry, technology, academic, and business sources.

  • Draw thoughtful conclusions from complex qualitative and quantitative data, synthesizing diverse and often conflicting inputs into clear, evidence-based perspectives that help executives understand emerging opportunities, risks, and tradeoffs.

  • Propose and test insight-rich ideas through primary and secondary research and translate findings into polished written, graphical, and verbal deliverables.

  • Support the development of research reports, executive presentations, member discussions, and conference content.

  • Build relationships with industry leaders, academics, startup executives, and other thought leaders to enable research learnings and expand the GRB ecosystem.

  • Utilize approved AI tools to accelerate learning, explore alternative perspectives, improve efficiency, and enhance the value we deliver to members while maintaining independent judgment and critical thinking.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of research methodologies, deliverables, and team practices.

What You'll Need
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in research, advisory, consulting, strategy, policy, or related analytical role.

  • Experience interacting with senior business, technology, or functional leaders.

  • Demonstrated experience conducting impactful research on issues relevant to executive audiences.

  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated interest in, technology trends, business strategy, workforce dynamics, organizational transformation, and/or market developments.

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Exceptional writing, reading, and critical thinking skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and communicate complex concepts clearly and concisely.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and defend differentiated perspectives on complex topics.

  • Strong verbal communication skills; interviewing and presentation experience are a plus.

  • Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degrees, technical backgrounds, or post-graduate research experience are welcomed but not required.

  • U.S. work authorization.

Who You Are
  • Intellectually curious and energized by exploring difficult questions.

  • Comfortable working in ambiguity where there may be multiple plausible answers.

  • A strong writer and communicator who can make complex ideas understandable.

  • Able to identify meaningful patterns and insights across diverse information sources.

  • An independent thinker who develops and defends evidence-based perspectives.

  • Collaborative, humble, and receptive to feedback.

  • Self-directed, growth-oriented, and committed to continuous learning.

What We Offer
