The Planning Advisor builds deep, planning-focused relationships with managed account customers, primarily those with assets between $250,000 and $1,000,000, while retaining flexibility to engage clients outside that range based on opportunity. The role engages customers through proactive outreach, welcome interactions, and re-engagement efforts for participants who have not been contacted within established timeframes. The position focuses on strengthening long-term client engagement and ensuring customers feel supported throughout their financial journey with Empower.

This role partners closely with Workplace and other internal teams to ensure a coordinated customer experience across advisory, health and wealth, and workplace channels. The Planning Advisor identifies planning needs, facilitates warm introductions to appropriate Empower resources, and reinforces the value of the managed account program while meeting bi-monthly goals tied to engagement, retention, and client satisfaction.

What you will do:

  • Provide planning-focused conversations that help participants understand their financial goals and how the managed account program supports their long-term strategy.

  • Gain and apply knowledge of Empower processes, tools, and resources, including managed account program details, Workplace integration points, and available planning support.

  • Proactively identify participant financial planning needs and life events, documenting relevant information to support ongoing relationship development.

  • Deliver a personalized client experience by completing follow-up actions, including scheduling future planning discussions or coordinating introductions to relevant Empower teams.

  • Clearly explain the managed account program and its role in long-term planning.

  • Gather information about participant goals, financial situations, and current engagement to support deeper planning relationships.

  • Identify and execute opportunities to expand client engagement through coordinated warm introductions to Wealth Solutions, EHG, or Workplace resources.

  • Identify trends and propose proactive solutions to improve service quality and increase client confidence in the managed account program.

  • Adhere to compliance and risk procedures, demonstrating detailed attention to policy and process while acting in the participant's best interest.

  • Document planning-related interactions to support future relationship development and outreach.

  • Meet assigned bi-monthly goals tied to engagement, retention, and client satisfaction.

What you will bring:

  • 1-3 years of financial services, customer engagement, or call center experience preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly.

  • FINRA Series 7, 63, and 65 or 66 registrations required within corporate-established timelines.

  • FINRA fingerprinting required.

  • Self-starter with demonstrated problem-solving abilities.

  • Experience working in a metrics- and activity-driven environment.

  • Goal-oriented with strong accountability for outcomes tied to engagement and retention.

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent work experience.

  • Experience supporting affluent or mass-affluent customers.

  • Proficiency in Salesforce or similar CRM systems.

  • Understanding of retirement planning or managed account programs.

  • Experience working across shared services or cross-functional environments, including Workplace.

Base Salary Range

$72,200.00 - $101,975.00

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
