Job Summary

We are seeking a Data Center Technician with early-stage experience in structured cabling and data center environments. This contract-to-hire opportunity is ideal for individuals who have developed foundational field knowledge and are ready to expand their technical skills through continued mentorship. The technician will support the installation, maintenance, and testing of structured cabling systems, infrastructure hardware, and data center equipment while ensuring quality workmanship, safety, and adherence to industry standards.

Job Responsibilities




  • Perform structured cabling installations, including fiber and copper cable rough-in, routing, dressing, and organization.



  • Terminate and test fiber and copper cabling under moderate supervision.



  • Rack and stack network equipment, including server installations and rack elevations.



  • Install infrastructure hardware such as ladder racks, fiber trays, cabinets, and related support systems.



  • Read and follow blueprints, installation standards, and project documentation.



  • Assist with Outside Plant (OSP) fiber installations into data center environments.



  • Receive, organize, and assemble materials and hardware components.



  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following established safety procedures.



  • Communicate effectively with team members, project leads, and supervisors regarding project progress and issues.




Job Requirements




  • 1-2 years of experience in a data center or commercial structured cabling environment.



  • High School Diploma or GED required.



  • Familiarity with fiber and copper cable types, termination methods, and basic cable testing equipment.



  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.



  • Ability to read and interpret basic construction drawings and installation documentation.



  • Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces.



  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move items up to 75 pounds.



  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.



  • Must provide and maintain basic hand tools, including a multi-bit screwdriver, snips, punch tool, pliers, tape measure, flashlight, tool pouch, and steel or composite toe work boots.
