Role Overview
The Associate Vice President, Category Leadership is a senior commercial leader responsible for shaping and advancing category strategy across the Meals & Beverages (M&B) portfolio. This role leads the field-based Category Leadership function, translating shopper, retailer, and syndicated data into actionable strategies that drive category space growth, strengthen retailer partnerships, and support enterprise priorities.
As a key member of the M&B Sales Leadership Team, this leader partners cross-functionally to deliver integrated, insight-driven plans that unlock optimized assortment across priority customers and categories.

Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy & Commercial Impact
* Lead the field-based Category Leadership function (~30 employees) across all categories, driving enterprise category strategy and retailer engagement
* Embed category insights into commercial planning, enabling stronger customer strategies and growth outcomes
* Support strategic customer engagements, including retailer category reviews and planning discussions
* Translate shopper, syndicated, and retailer data into actionable insights that inform assortment, shelving, promotion, and innovation decisions
Customer & Cross-Functional Partnership
* Collaborate with Customer & Category Strategy, Field Sales and Sales Operations to ensure execution readiness for innovation and category initiatives
* Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Shopper Insights, Portfolio Strategy, and Revenue Growth Management to leverage customer data and insights to influence internal teams with planning and growth targets.
* Align category priorities with strategic customers and growth opportunities
Team Leadership & Capability Building
* Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing (field-based) Category Leadership team of ~30 employees
* Establish standardized tools, processes, and reporting to drive consistency and effectiveness
* Build organizational capability in category storytelling, insights translation, and retailer engagement
* Drive continuous improvement in category tools, reporting, and operating routines; ensure customer-specific insights are being leveraged internally.
Execution Excellence
* Ensure consistent, high-quality category storytelling and reporting across customers
* Drive adoption and effectiveness of category recommendations with internal and external stakeholders
* Support innovation sell in through category insights and retailer readiness strategies

Required Qualifications
* 12+ years of progressive experience in category management, sales, shopper insights, or related fields
* 5+ years of people leadership experience
* Deep expertise in category management and retailer engagement
* Strong commercial and analytical acumen
* Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
* Strong communication and storytelling skills
* Strong commercial acumen with ability to translate insights into actionable strategies
* Proven leadership experience building and developing high-performing teams
* Demonstrated ability to influence across complex, cross-functional organizations
* Familiarity / expertise with customer specific data (Scintilla, 84.51, Dunhumby, etc.)

Compensation and Benefits:

The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between

$225,300-$309,800

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
