Job Summary Direct and support chemical technicians to assure chemical and environmental compliance for boiler water and environmental chemistry. Performs chemical department functions such as maintaining chemistry and environmental compliance and making budget and safety decisions in an electric generating station.
Essential Functions
- Supervises union hourly chemical technicians and Chemical Technical Trainers.
- Documents and evaluates employee performance
- Enforces company policies
- Researches and conducts grievance hearings. Interprets and applies company /union contract.
- With the assistance of the Chemical Technical Trainers, trains and certifies apprentice technicians for step progression and job qualification.
- Coaches technicians for job performance
- Maintains Chemical and Environmental Compliance
- Analyzes power plant chemistry data, coach employees for corrective action to maintain compliance.
- Solves water, oil, and environmental chemistry problems. Institutes corrective action.
- Administers action to maintain or regain chemical and environmental compliance.
- Applies statistical analysis to maintain QA/QC compliance.
- Reviews environmental reports, initiate corrective action to maintain compliance.
- Performs equipment inspections and institute chemical feed changes.
- Planning and Organization:
- Organizes work force, plans daily and outage work, for chemical technicians, follows-up to assure completion.
- Identifies needs, plans, and assigns preventative maintenance. Verifies completion.
- Safety
- Administers inspections and calibrations for safety equipment.
- Maintains Compliance with OSHA Laboratory Standards.
- Conducts or directs safety meetings and follow up action.
- Budgeting and Cost control
- Budget for expenditures. Generates corrective action to meet budget
- Initiates capital and O&M projects.
- Manages capital projects
- Communicates issues to management and hourly employees that may affect plant operation.
- Schedules and tracks training for apprentices to ensure on-time completion of apprenticeship milestones.
Required Qualifications for Position
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Business or related field.
- 4+ years Equivalent college chemistry/science experience (chemistry or science courses equivalent to associate degree hours or 8 years of power plant work experience
- 4+ years in supervisory experience
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
- 10+ years supervisory experience
- 10+ years power plant experience
- Certified Material Selection/Design Specialist-NACE Upon Hire

Salary Range*: $96,600.00 - $144,900.00
*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity. Posting Start Date: 2026-07-09
