Job Description:

The Master Plumber is a senior-level skilled trades professional responsible for performing and leading complex plumbing installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair activities within a healthcare environment. Ensures the safe, reliable, and code-compliant operation of water, drainage, medical gas, and associated systems.

Provides technical expertise, oversight, and guidance to plumbing staff and project teams, ensuring plumbing infrastructure supports continuous patient care, life safety, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance while maintaining uninterrupted facility operations.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Performs, oversees, and troubleshoots complex plumbing installations, repairs, and maintenance for domestic water, sanitary and storm systems, specialty piping, and medical gas systems in healthcare facilities.
  • Ensures plumbing systems comply with applicable federal, state, and local codes, healthcare regulations, and accreditation requirements (e.g., infection prevention, life safety, water management).
  • Leads plumbing-related projects and renovations, including coordination with contractors, engineers, clinical staff, and facilities leadership to minimize disruption to patient care.
  • Inspects, tests, and documents plumbing and related systems performance; maintains accurate records, permits, and compliance documentation.
  • Provides technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to journeyman plumbers, apprentices, and other facilities staff.
  • Participates in emergency response, on-call rotation, and critical incident support related to plumbing system failures or water events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required principle competencies as listed on the job description
  • 5+ years progressive experience performing advanced plumbing work (Healthcare facility plumbing experience preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical or vocational training/Apprenticeship Plumbing or related skilled trade

Licenses/Certifications

  • Valid Driver's License required upon hire - MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver's license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment
  • Master Plumber License required - Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI)
  • Backflow Prevention Certification preferred -Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI)

Physical Demands

  • Medium Work:
  • Lifting weight up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $37.04 to $50.77 per hour The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
