TITLE: Inventory Control Technician - First Shift

LOCATION:Onsite in Oswego, IL
SHIFT & HOURS:Monday - Friday, 6am - 2:30pm (Schedule flexibility may be considered based on business needs and discussion with the hiring manager)

Hiring Hourly Rate: $27.82/hr.

Custom Culinary, a subsidiary of Griffith Foods, is hiring an Inventory Control Technician to join our team. The Inventory Control Technician is responsible for maintaining the accuracy, availability, and traceability of label inventory while supporting daily production administration and scheduling activities. This role serves as a key link between Warehouse, Production, Quality, Planning, Regulatory, and Commercial teams to ensure label materials are available to meet production requirements, inventory records are accurate, and production processes operate efficiently.

As an Inventory Control Technician your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain accurate label inventory records

  • Monitor label inventory levels and coordinate label availability

  • Generate and analyze reports related to inventory health

  • Track expired, obsolete, slow-moving, and non-conforming labels and coordinate recovery, utilization, or destruction activities

  • Communicate inventory concerns, shortages, and risks to management and relevant departments

  • Ensure materials and documentation are available in adequate supply for production schedules and customer commitments

  • Coordinate workflow and communication between production departments

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operational, quality, regulatory, commercial, and other business functions

  • Support compliance with BRC, GMP, food safety, and quality management system requirements

Qualified candidates will have:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • 3 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to regularly lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds throughout the work shift

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently, including the ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; and the ability to communicate with individuals and small groups

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals

Candidates must currently be at least 18 years of age AND possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

What will set you apart:

  • Ability to speak Spanish is a plus

  • Associate degree in Business, Management, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field

  • Strong understanding of food manufacturing operations and manufacturing business principles

  • Strong knowledge of label regulations, industry requirements, and inventory control principles

  • Strong knowledge of BRC, GMP, food safety, quality systems, documentation control, audit readiness, labeling requirements, and risk mitigation practices

  • Extremely organized and able to work with minimum supervision

  • Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Kaizen, GEMBA, and other continuous improvement methodologies

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk to communicate and listen effectively. This will require both office and plant floor environments. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee will occasionally need to operate and drive a forklift or electronic pallet jack to transport materials or goods.

Environmental Concerns

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Dust and odor are present in the environment.
