Job Summary:
The Safety Coordinator supports the Safety Manager in advancing a strong, proactive safety culture across the organization, with a primary focus on field support, training coordination, inspections, and safety documentation. This role serves as a visible presence on jobsites, assisting employees and supervisors with day-to-day safety needs, identifying hazards early, and helping ensure safety programs are consistently implemented across construction and service operations.

This role is essential in reinforcing the organization's commitment to injury prevention, safety awareness, and continuous improvement.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Program Support & Coordination
  • Assist the Safety Manager in implementing and maintaining safety policies, procedures, and culture-building initiatives.
  • Support the rollout of new safety programs, tools, and campaigns.
  • Help facilitate safety committee meetings through agenda preparation, documentation, and follow-up tracking.
Training & Communication
  • Assist in coordinating and conducting safety training within areas of qualification for employees, including onboarding, refresher training, and job-specific topics.
  • Track and maintain employee safety training records, certifications, and required documentation.
  • Distribute safety communications, alerts, and awareness materials to field personnel.
Field Safety & Hazard Identification
  • Conduct routine job-site inspections and safety observations on active construction and service sites.
  • Document jobsite inspection findings, communicate concerns to field leadership, and assist with tracking corrective actions to completion.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and work practices and report findings to the Safety Manager and field leadership.
  • Serve as a visible safety presence in the field, reinforcing safe behaviors and supporting safety culture initiatives.
Incident Support & Documentation
  • Assist with incident and near-miss fact gathering, photos, witness statements, root cause review, corrective action tracking, and lessons-learned communication.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee injury information, incident records, investigations, and other sensitive company information.
  • Maintain OSHA logs, incident reports, and other required safety records under the direction of the Safety Manager.
  • Exercise authority to pause work when an imminent danger or serious uncontrolled hazard is observed and immediately notify the Safety Manager and appropriate supervision.
Administrative Support
  • Help coordinate safety equipment and PPE inventory and coordinate distribution as needed.
  • Maintain safety records in company software systems, spreadsheets, and electronic filing locations.
Other Duties
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe work practices, and prompt reporting of hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Safety Manager that are consistent with the scope of this role.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Health, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams/Outlook, and ability to learn company safety software.
  • 1-3 years of experience in construction, industrial operations, or a safety support role preferred.
  • OSHA 30 preferred, or ability to obtain within 6-12 months.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred, or ability to obtain after hire.
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety principles.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive injury, personnel, and investigation information professionally.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field employees, foremen, supervisors, customers, and management.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing office work, attending meetings, or at customer sites.
  • Required to climb ladders, stairs, and navigate work sites safely.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods during site inspections.
  • Comfortable with exposure to various customer environments, including noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials or tools up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Frequent use of computers, phone, and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, on the phone, and in virtual meetings.
  • Ability to travel between multiple company locations and active job sites as required.
  • Must have the capacity to hear and communicate clearly in both office and noisy environments.
