The Town of Needham is seeking an enthusiastic individual to fulfill the role of Field Assessor. Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Assessing, the Field Assessor is responsible for the systematic field data verification and review of personal property, field review of all "New Growth" parcels in the Town, mailing of annual income and Expense 38D requests and personal property Forms of Lists as well as collating responses to those requests. Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
- Collects residential and commercial/industrial real estate measures and lists, following approved appraisal and assessing techniques; maintains related photographs and files.
- Conducts inspections on "new growth" properties both residential and commercial and enter data into CAMA (assessing database) system.
- Works directly with business owners and tenants of commercial/industrial properties for rental information; visits businesses in the community for the purpose of listing machinery and inventory used in the conduct of the business.
- Identifies property usage to determine exemption status.
- Surveys and compiles income and expense data from commercial property owners and creates related reports.
- Performs data processing procedures dealing with the computerization of valuation techniques

Requirements
-
The following requirements may be substituted byany equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job:
- A bachelor's degree in finance, business or a related degree.
- Two (2) to Four (4) to years of related experience
- Valid driver's license.
Beneficial:
- Massachusetts Accredited Assessor's certificate willing to actively obtain
- Experience with Intelligent Query programs and the Department of Revenue's CAMA system is preferred.
