full time role, M-F, 40 hours New Graduate APPs will be considered. The clinical research nurse practitioner is part of a dynamic team of physicians, nurse practitioners, and study coordinators all working together on clinical research studies in the Metabolism Research Group (Cardiometabolic Endocrinology Section, Endocrine Division, Department of Medicine) at MGH. Clinical research studies from our group explore ways to improve cardiovascular health in special populations of patients, including women with HIV. The Metabolism Research Group nurse practitioner promotes productive relationships between the core study team, collaborating scientists, and our research participants and contributes to key operational and analytical aspects of the research enterprise. Our team is seeking a qualified nurse practitioner interested in pursuing a career in clinical research. Core Responsibilities: Recruit participants to the research (i.e. develop advertising materials and obtain permission from the Mass General Brigham (MGB) Institutional Review Board (IRB) for use of these materials; give lay-person talks about the study at local community organizations; screen potential participants by phone, answering any questions they may have; supervise study coordinator in orchestrating in-person participant screening visits). Oversee clinical research study visits (i.e. lead process of obtaining informed consent, perform targeted history and physical exam, complete case reports forms and clinical research notes, monitor participant safety throughout study visits). Lead clinical data management efforts (i.e. follow-up with participants and providers about incidental research findings or clinically-relevant lab/imaging results, supervise study coordinator in upkeeping research database, communicate with laboratory/imaging teams regarding compliant provision of quality-checked data). Participate in tracking research charges, in accordance with pre-specified study budget. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider. The NP is responsible for assessing and managing various patient populations, including those with medical and/or surgical conditions, as well as providing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. This includes developing appropriate plans of care and conducting ongoing evaluations. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions -Provides direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings. -Performs complete histories and physical examinations. -Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests. -Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings. -Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures. -Consistently provides high-quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries. -Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population. No Licenses and Credentials Advanced Practice Registered Nurse , MA Experience Experience as a Nurse Practitioner 0-1 year preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings. - Ability to maintain quality control standards. - Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. - Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. - Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
