General Purpose: The Quality Systems Specialist is responsible for maintaining training, qualification, and quality system documentation to ensure compliance, audit readiness, and operational excellence. Partners with Operations to develop and sustain procedures, work instructions, and forms that support business objectives and regulatory requirements. The Quality Systems Specialist ensures that all quality system documentation is accurate, current, and readily available for audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews. This position plays a key role in maintaining compliance, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and promoting adherence to corporate quality standards and regulatory requirements. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide support in the implementation, administration, and enforcement of corporate quality policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Participate in the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the facility HACCP program.
- Ensure the facility's product recall program remains effective and compliant with DFA, FDA, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Support new product launches by implementing customer specifications, R&D requirements, and associated quality documentation.
- Maintain and administer the facility's Document Control System to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and compliance with quality standards.
- Participate in quarterly Quality Systems audits and monthly Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety audits.
- Serve as a member of the Food Defense and Crisis Management Teams and support related initiatives.
- Provide support for Low Acid Canned Food (LACF) record reviews, master batch distribution, and finished product release activities as required.
- Perform special projects and quality improvement initiatives as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.
- Support customer documentation requests and assist in the implementation, tracking, and verification of corrective and preventive actions resulting from audits, customer feedback, or internal assessments.
- Assist in the development and delivery of training materials and programs to support employee knowledge, compliance, and operational effectiveness.
- Participate in internal and external audits of food safety and quality systems, including SQF, HACCP, GMP, and other applicable programs.
- Maintain and monitor the Quality Management System to ensure compliance with SQF certification requirements and company standards.
- Participate in monthly internal GMP inspections and support ongoing food safety and quality improvement efforts.
- Drive key performance indicators within assigned areas of responsibility and recommend process improvements that enhance operational efficiency and business objectives.
- Promote effective communication across all levels of the organization to ensure stakeholders are informed and able to respond appropriately to quality, food safety, and regulatory matters.
- Perform all duties in accordance with DFA policies, GMP requirements, food safety standards, quality systems, sanitation programs, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and practices while maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma Required
- College Degree preferred
- 3-5 years' experience in a food manufacturing environment working with QA/Quality Systems preferred

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact well with people at multiple levels of the organization and or with external customers in business and technical fields
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and functions
- Must be a self-starter, able to organize, prioritize as well as be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be confident and communicate well to present concepts and ideas to Operations team members
- Must have strong problem-solving skills
* Must have advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, Access and Power Point * Must be able to read, write and speak English

Licensing and Certification:
- Holding a certification from a certified FDA Better Process School would be a plus. If at time of hire, capable/able to obtain such FDA Better Processing School Certification
- Holding a certification from a certified HACCP course would be a plus. If at time of hire, capable/able to obtain HACCP Certification
- Holding a certification from a certified PCQI course would be a plus. If at time of hire, capable/able to obtain PCQI Certification
