A Brief Overview Supports the operations of the Office of Compliance and Privacy (OCP) with primary day-to-day responsibility for the enterprise compliance hotline and Conflict of Interest (COI) program. Responsibilities include review, reconciliation, tracking, follow-up, and reporting of hotline- and COI-related activities, including COI review of consulting engagements, as well as support for related COI program operations and process improvements. The role also has a significant training and education function providing subject matter expertise, including development and delivery of compliance, COI, and other OCP educational content and supporting materials. This role requires interaction with and support of enterprise-wide staff including leaders, faculty, researchers and clinicians. Additional responsibilities may include support for the OCP exclusion list/sanctions screening function and operational processes related to vendor interaction and access policy implementation, interpretation, and stakeholder guidance, as well as other general compliance matters such as compliance investigations. Privacy operations and other OCP initiatives are supported as needed. What you will do
- Support the operations of the Office of Compliance and Privacy (OCP) across CHOP hospital campuses, physician practices, primary and specialty care practices, the Research Institute, and Foundation operations.
- Compliance Hotline Program
- Conduct day-to-day operations of the enterprise compliance hotline, including processing and monitoring reports submitted through the third-party hosted hotline platform and reports submitted to OCP through other channels.
- Lead or support intake, review, triage, reconciliation, documentation, and tracking of hotline reports and related follow-up items.
- Coordinate with appropriate stakeholders regarding hotline reports and related follow-up activities, including email correspondence, meetings, and other routine communications necessary to support review, investigation, resolution, report closure, and implementation of corrective action plans.
- Support or lead compliance investigations, including interviewing individuals, documenting the investigative process, partnering with stakeholders, and facilitating resolution and report closure.
- Provide support, as needed, for privacy-related reports received through the hotline, which may include triage, investigation support, risk assessment activities, and other related privacy program processes.
- COI Program
- Support day-to-day operations of the enterprise-wide Conflict of Interest (COI) program, including review of COI disclosures; drafting, tracking, and monitoring COI management plans for research and other conflicts; and coordinating related follow-up items with appropriate stakeholders.
- Support COI program review of individual personal consulting arrangements, including review of proposed engagements, tracking, monitoring, and related follow-up.
- Prepare reports, summaries, and other COI-related work product to support program operations, monitoring, and reporting to leadership, committees, and the Board.
- Respond to COI-related questions and provide related program support and follow-up, as appropriate.
- Support the OCP exclusion list/sanctions screening program, which may include conducting individual or batch screenings through a contracted third-party platform, analyzing results, and providing guidance regarding follow-up.
- Lead or support training and education initiatives related to the compliance hotline, COI program, exclusion list/sanctions screening program, vendor interaction and access policy implementation and interpretation, and other OCP program areas, including development, revision, and delivery of educational content, presentations, job aids, and related resources for a variety of audiences.
- Support drafting and revision of policies, standard operating procedures, guidance documents, training materials, and other OCP resources in support of program operations and education.
- Other responsibilities may include:
- Maintain and update the OCP internal website and related resources and documents.
- Support development, implementation, and revision of annual General Compliance and COI team work plans.
- Support operating departments in developing and maintaining departmental compliance plans.
- Monitor, reconcile, and report out data and trends related to hotline, COI, sanctions screening, and other assigned OCP program activities to support operational oversight and leadership reporting.
- Prepare materials, summaries, reports, and presentations to support OCP leadership, internal committees, and other reporting needs.
- Support OCP leadership with reporting, committee support, special projects, and other duties as assigned.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- Doctorate Juris Doctorate (JD) Preferred
Experience
- At least six (6) years Work experience in a professional capacity, with increasing levels of responsibility Required
- At least ten (10) years Prior experience in a compliance or healthcare related office Preferred

- Working knowledge of healthcare compliance program operations and regulatory expectations. (Preferred proficiency)
- Working knowledge of Office of Inspector General (OIG) and Department of Justice (DOJ) guidance related to effective compliance programs. (Preferred proficiency)
- Working knowledge of Public Health Service (PHS) Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) regulations. (Preferred proficiency)
