This position is within the Division of Pediatric Genetics and Metabolism at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. The primary purpose is to assist with the Early Check Voluntary Newborn Screening Project that will offer expanded newborn screening to parents of infants born in North Carolina to include rare genetic disorders and increased risk of type I diabetes. Following established standard operating procedures specific for the condition, the person will assist Dr. Powell, site principal investigator for Early Check, and the research Genetic Counselor for the project, with scheduling patients in the CTRC, communicating with families about their appointments, and helping them navigate during their appointments. They will also help coordinate scheduling with the team of clinicians and study personnel, enter qualitative and quantitative data into REDCap or another appropriate database. The successful candidate will have ample opportunity to assist with all aspects of research.

Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Prefer candidates who have experience interacting with patients in a clinical setting and/or candidates who have experience with contributing to research projects (specifically ones requiring patient interaction).
