The Graduate School of Education and Human Development (
GSEHD) at GW offers certificate, Masters and Doctoral degrees in a range of programs for general and special education teacher preparation, curriculum development, counseling and human and organizational learning. Our students emerge from our programs enriched in theory and practice and become agents of change across the learning lifespan.
GSEHD is seeking a Program Manager to manage all aspects of running the department.
The Program Manager, a senior-level position, reports to the Department Chair and provides advanced-level coordination and program management to one or more programs. This role serves as a point of contact for the program(s) and provides functional support and management for the programs and department administration. Functional support could include answering external inquiries; drafting program materials; managing course evaluations; updating syllabi; planning and executing events, including onboarding faculty; tracking spending and processing payments; managing web presence and marketing efforts; and similar duties. Often these positions make recommendations to policy and procedure, and they are tasked with outreach to other GW stakeholders in order to assist in maintaining standard operational efficiencies.
Specific responsibilities could include:
Faculty Support: Onboarding, providing feedback and support Student Services: Advising, onboarding, and resolving student issues Data Management: Creating enrollment projections and managing the database Student and Alumni Engagement: Creating networks and surveys to enhance engagement Operational Leadership: Developing course schedules and fiscal reports Problem-Solving: Serving as primary point of contact for operational and student-related issues Comprehensive Academic Advising: Advising students, including crafting personalized plans and monitoring academic progress- Developing alumni networks and surveys
Assisting Department Chair and faculty leaders with program assessment needs and other administrative tasks: Overseeing administrative and operational logistics for program meetings, including scheduling, preparation of materials, and official record-keeping Course Scheduling: Assisting the Registration and Records Associate with course scheduling via CourseDog
This position does not have direct reports but may hire, schedule, train, and supervise temporary staff or student workers, or lead other program staff. Typical duties often are administrative in nature, and are under limited supervision or are independent of more senior personnel within the department, or program.
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. |
| Minimum Qualifications: |
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. |

- Prior administrative experience in a college or university.
