Compensation

  • At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $116,440 - $154,283. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Join Our Team as Manager - Facilities!

S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Production Equipment Maintenance department. The Manager - Facilities will oversee the facilities, equipment, and related services to meet the needs of the plant.

The manager will be responsible for implementing process improvements and contributing to the achievement of our Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in safety, quality, equipment availability, delivery, and cost (SQDC). The manager collaborates closely with colleagues in other departments to promote cross-department teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Culture: Promote a safety culture and take all reasonable precautions to protect team members from illness or injury. Investigate and report on safety incidents.

Planning & Asset Strategy: Establish and execute tactical and operational plans that support both short-term operational stability and medium-term asset reliability and capability needs. Translate site and job family strategy into actionable maintenance, facilities, and reliability plans, including workforce capability, spares strategy, and equipment lifecycle considerations. Continuous Improvement: Initiate and participate in LPS/CI initiatives; create and/or maintain meaningful visuals such as KPI boards.

Leadership & People Management: Uphold and promote a professional work environment, addressing minor conflicts and fostering teamwork in line with S&C's values. Monitor team tasks and provide regular feedback, both constructive and encouraging. Recognize and acknowledge team achievements and guide team members toward growth opportunities through mentoring and coaching.

Facility Maintenance Operations: Oversee and guide TPM practices, coordinating with department leaders and cascading best practices down to team members through Supervisors and team leads. Support the planning and coordination of department schedules, inventory, preventative maintenance needs, and more. Review and ensure team understanding of goals and oversee the upkeep of KPI boards.

CMMS & Preventive Maintenance Programs: Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of production equipment. Provide recommendations and support the planning for major replacements/restorations of equipment. Use the CMMS to address and document maintenance needs.

Inventory Management: Work cross functionally to ensure part and supply inventories align with scheduled maintenance.

Health & Safety Compliance: Promote safety awareness and housekeeping, investigate and report on safety incidents, maintain and promote a safety-conscious manufacturing environment, enforce health and safety policies and procedures to create a safe working environment for all employees, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to facilities operations.

Reporting: Create production and status reports. Communicate regularly with upper management regarding problems impacting production. Reports issues regarding production, quality, maintenance, or personnel to function leadership.

Budget Support: Manage the maintenance and facilities operating budget. Forecast, monitor, and control spending; develop business cases for capital repairs and replacements; and identify opportunities to reduce cost while improving reliability and safety.

Reliability & Risk Management: Identify equipment and facility risks that could impact safety, quality, delivery, or cost. Lead root cause analysis for chronic failures and ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained.

Contractor & Vendor Management: Manage external contractors and service providers, including scope definition, safety compliance, performance evaluation, and cost control.

What you'll Need To Succeed:

Required

  • 10+ years of well-rounded experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of production equipment. Experience overseeing maintenance of complex manufacturing equipment and systems, with the ability to evaluate technical issues, set priorities, and guide technical teams.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience

  • Associate degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent coursework

  • Demonstrated experience with major machinery calibration, alignment, and installation. Expertise in diagnosing and repairing complex control systems and machinery.
  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems in a manufacturing setting.
  • Good leadership skills within a manufacturing environment, with an ability to lead, guide, motivate, and delegate to deliver results.
  • Solid critical thinking, organizational, planning, and project management skills, creative problem-solving when obstacles arise.
  • Good interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, navigate and resolve conflict, moderate behaviors, and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.
  • Great communication skills, (written, verbal, listening, and presentation) able to liaise with internal stakeholders from support staff to function leadership
  • Adequate financial math skills with the ability to support budgetary decisions.
  • Proven success partnering across teams, creating effective partnerships at all levels, and collaborating at an operational level.
  • Adapts to change and different ways of doing things quickly and positively and finds ways to get things accomplished, even when faced with challenges.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to leverage data to distil trends and insights that drive continuous improvement.
  • Decision-making capabilities with an ability to make balanced and informed decisions that help S&C achieve business goals.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Preferred

  • Total Productive Maintenance experience (TPM) is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field
  • Reliability, maintenance, or facilities management training
  • Hazardous good handling training

Physical Demands

  • Sitting: Frequently required to remain in a stationary position and perform desk-based tasks.
  • Walking: Frequently required to walk moderate distances across the S&C campus.
  • Manual Dexterity: Occasionally required to use hand-eye coordination to control both hands and arms for a full range of motion to operate office productivity equipment.
  • Ascending / Descending: Occasionally ascending or descending stairs.
  • Observation / Eyesight: Occasionally required to observe details at close range including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors.
  • Communication: Continuously required to talk and hear or otherwise effectively communicate, in person and by phone/conference calls.
  • Travel: Occasionally required to travel and work extended hours when necessary. Required to travel overnight. Required to travel internationally.
