Job Title:Sr. Manager, Security



The Senior Manager, Security provides strategic and operational leadership for the Duquesne Light's corporate security program, including physical security, security operations, investigations, regulatory compliance, security technology, emergency preparedness, and security risk management. Leading a team of security specialists, supervisors, and analysts, the Senior Manager oversees the protection of employees, critical infrastructure, facilities, and other corporate assets through risk-based security strategies, regulatory compliance, continuous program improvement, and collaboration with business partners and senior leadership.



Location: Hybrid, Pittsburgh, PA (New Manchester)



Responsibilities:




  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Company's enterprise corporate security program, including physical security, security operations, investigations, compliance, emergency preparedness, and security risk management.
  • Develop departmental goals, strategic priorities, and performance measures that align with organizational objectives and support operational excellence.
  • Partner with business units to understand operational needs and develop risk-based, cost-effective security solutions that support business objectives.
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance corporate security policies, standards, procedures, and best practices to ensure a consistent and effective security program.
  • Provide executive leadership with assessments and recommendations regarding significant security risks, investigations, emerging threats, and issues that may impact Company operations, assets, personnel, or reputation.
  • Manage compliance with applicable security regulations and standards, including NERC CIP, FERC, and other federal, state, and industry requirements; monitor regulatory changes and implement necessary program updates.
  • Direct security audits, inspections, assessments, and program reviews to evaluate compliance, identify vulnerabilities, and drive corrective actions.
  • Oversee the Corporate Security Command Center (SCC), ensuring effective monitoring, alarm management, incident response, emergency communications, and coordination during routine and emergency operations.
  • Lead the strategy, deployment, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise security technologies, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, visitor management, and electronic key management systems.
  • Conduct and oversee investigations involving theft, fraud, workplace violence, policy violations, and other incidents affecting Company personnel, facilities, or assets.
  • Perform physical security risk assessments and vulnerability assessments; develop and implement mitigation strategies to address identified risks.
  • Manage security-related vendor and contractor relationships, including uniformed security services, background screening, testing programs, technology providers, and equipment maintenance vendors.
  • Collaborate with business continuity, emergency management, and crisis response teams to support preparedness planning, incident response, work continuation, and recovery efforts.
  • Provide security consulting and support for capital projects, facility improvements, executive protection initiatives, special events, and other strategic business activities.
  • Develop and deliver security awareness training programs focused on workplace violence prevention, active threat preparedness, emergency response, and crime prevention.
  • Develop and manage departmental operating and capital budgets, ensuring effective stewardship of Company resources and achievement of financial objectives.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with law enforcement agencies, emergency management organizations, regulatory bodies, industry associations, and other external partners.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee security-related safety initiatives within the department.



Additional Responsibilities:



  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Storm team duties as assigned.



Education and Experience Required:



  • 10+ years of related experience in corporate security or law enforcement required.
  • Bachelor's degree in criminology, homeland security, or related discipline required.


    • In lieu of degree, an additional 4+ years of experience in corporate security or law enforcement is required.


  • 3+ years of prior management experience required.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in a related field or certifications such as Certified Protection Professional, Physical Security Professional, or Professional Certified Investigator preferred.
  • Experience managing or working in a corporate security environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements, including NERC CIP, FERC, and other applicable federal, state, and industry standards preferred.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability to develop, motivate, and manage high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen with the ability to align security programs and risk mitigation strategies to organizational objectives.
  • Proven ability to assess complex situations, make sound decisions, and effectively manage security incidents, investigations, and crisis situations.
  • Strong knowledge of physical security operations, risk assessment methodologies, security technologies, investigations, and emergency preparedness programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship-management skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex security risks and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and develop risk-based solutions.



Scope

Primary focus is on day to day management of operational execution and also develops and exercises business plans, policies, and procedures. Contributes to proactive planning exercises of management team as requested. Trains and develops staff. Plans the work flow. Looks for areas of process improvement and directs available resources to accomplish this. Leads changes and implementations for direct team as pushed down through the organization.



Decision Impact

Resolves problems of a greater complexity than the Manager level. Improves existing processes and systems using conceptualizing, reasoning, and interpretation skills. Solutions require thorough understanding of business strategies and issues. Defines broad based solutions that would require consideration of wider implications on organization results & resources.



Hybrid Work

Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.



Storm Roles

All Non-Union Employees will serve in storm roles as appropriate to their role and skillset. Data Governance

Utilize data to make business decisions as appropriate for the position, support data stewardship activities and partner with IT on underlying data needs.
