Job Summary: |
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate daily staffing and scheduling operations, including processing leave requests, adjusting schedules, updating timesheets, and providing operational coverage during staffing shortages Monitor dispatch operations and review Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) entries, records, and database activity to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with departmental procedures and Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) standards Oversee Colorado and National Crime Information Center (CCIC/NCIC) queries, entries, and cancellations to ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies, and protocols Provide employee coaching, mentoring, and performance management through regular feedback, quality assurance reviews, performance evaluations, corrective actions, and development planning Develop, coordinate, and deliver training for dispatch personnel, including CAD, RMS, CCIC/NCIC systems, emergency notification systems, security and monitoring platforms, and operational procedures Assist in the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, training programs, drills, and scenario-based exercises, including participation in campus-wide emergency preparedness initiatives

Qualifications: |

Five (5) or more years of experience in police radio/telephone communications equipment operations, including police radio/telephone communications equipment operations. Two (2) years of experience must be at a work lead or equivalent level in police radio/telephone communications equipment operations.
Colorado law requires that candidates for state government jobs be residents of Colorado at the time of application. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Preferred Qualifications:
Associate or higher-level degree (Transcripts May Be Required Upon an Offer of Employment. Applicants reserve the right to redact any information that could reveal their age, date of birth, or dates of school attendance or graduation pursuant to Colorado Job Application Fairness Act) Two (2) years or more as work lead within the University of Colorado Anschutz Police Department Communications Center. Previous experience as a Police Dispatch Supervisor Current Communication Training Officer (CTO) certification Leadership in Police Organizations (LPO) or other recognized leadership coursework through the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials-International (APCO) or National Emergency Number Association (NENA)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with State Classified Personnel Rules Familiarity with the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), and Colorado Open and Criminal Justice Records Acts. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously, handling interruptions and difficult situations under time pressure. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Ability to receive, comprehend, and rapidly relay accurate information. Ability to maintain self-control during periods of extreme stress and pressure. Ability to handle confidential information in a secure, professional, and discretionary manner. Ability to work closely with others to maintain calm, efficient operations. Demonstrated interpersonal, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills. Flexibility and openness to change. Proven time management/organizational skills (must be able to prioritize workload and meet deadlines).

Anticipated Pay Range: |
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $5,791 - $7,475 per month ($69,503 - $89,700 per year). This position is eligible for overtime compensation. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If you have prior state-classified service in the same class series as this position, your pay may be set at a higher amount per the state Step Pay Program implemented on July 1, 2024.
