LOCATION: Lackland AFB

JOB STATUS:Full-time

CLEARANCE: TS/SCI

TRAVEL:Limited, as needed

Astrion has an exciting opportunity fora Journeyman Systems Engineer supporting the Early Systems Engineering program (ESE) located at theLackland AFB inSan Antonio Texas.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Active TS/SCI
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in technical engineering
  • Ability to Integrate with other organizations/teams
  • Experience working with Agile Methodologies
  • Experience working in secured environments
  • Experience with STIGGING and vulnerability mitigation
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interface skills

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties include but not limited to

  • Perform program reviews to evaluate alternative proposed plans, systems engineering programs, design, and test results to assure that subsystem and system performance is achieved in accordance with program specifications.
  • Prepare technical documents which define, specify, and recommend system/subsystem characteristics. Prepare management reports and conduct technical presentations for planning, implementation, and corrective action using application of engineering economy principles.
  • Perform Data Validation of systems & Assesments, Data Integration & Enhancement, including development of criteria and procedures. Analyze and/or evaluate results of major engineering systems.
  • Systems Knowledge: A strong understanding of Air Force logistics and COMSEC systems, including but not limited to Basing & Logistics Analytics Data Environment (BLADE), Enterprise Logistics Management Specialist (formerly DPAS), Distribution Standard System, D035 - Stock Control System, Foundational Logistics Information Technology Enterprise System (FLITES, Reliability, Availability, Maintainability for Pods & Integrated Systems (REMIS, Integrated Data Environment (IDE) Global Transportation Network (GTN) Convergence (IGC) Proficiency in data analysis and inventory management systems, Experience with data analysis tools such as Databricks, BLADE, and Qlik, Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, Scala, and SQL for data exploration.
  • Conduct reviews on program portfolio to evaluate and/or recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline, and design/perform system level tests to assure that subsystems and system performance is achieved in accordance with approved specifications.
  • Provide system/program engineering, technical support, and technical training to support programs/initiatives, including but not limited to acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, continued evolution, deployment/fielding and installation, and operations oversight.
  • Provide engineering support services and inputs to program and project risk management activities in compliance with Air Force SEAM processes.
  • Capable of performing problem/gap definition, trade space analysis, science and technology roadmap analysis, "Set based design" for concept development, Multi-Objective Decision Analysis (MODA) and cost versus capability trade off analysis.
  • Capable of implementing Digital Engineering, Digital Thread, and Digital Twin techniques across system Lifecycle.
  • Apply engineering expertise to systems and subsystems including configuration management, data management, security, and other technical integration functions.
  • Manages complex system interfaces, identify, and document interfaces, and assure the effective integration of multiple subsystems.
  • Ensure system requirements meet user requirements; utilize user requirements to design, develop, fabricate, test, and evaluate system concepts, perform assessments, and review the system design.
  • Perform and/or support capability analyses and COTS/GOTS evaluation, select components, and develop system interfaces to ensure compliance with DoD and commercially accepted standards and requirements.
  • Constructs models and simulations of systems to demonstrate the ability to meet user requirements.
  • Conducts engineering performance, cost-effectiveness, reliability, technical and schedule risk assessment, and scheduling trade-off studies and document this information in a technical report as directed by the task order.
  • Provide aid or guidance as necessary in the accomplishment of other engineering tasks.
