Primary Purpose of Position
The function of this position is to serve as an operations specialist and transfer credit evaluator for prospective, incoming, and currently enrolled students (Boone, Hickory, Online, and Flight Path). This will include supporting prospects, applicants, and staff members as students navigate various steps of the admission funnel. Additionally, it will include the review and analysis of all transfer coursework, the loading of coursework to student records, and the maintenance of the Banner Catalog. This position serves as a liaison between various departments, acting as an advocate for students as it relates to credit transferability. This position is responsible for quality control of data accuracy and credit evaluation. This position has a high level of contact with faculty, staff and students, providing guidance relevant to transfer policies and procedures). Duties include, but are not limited to: transfer credit evaluation, written and verbal communications in response to inquiries related to program and application information (e.g., responding to and/or forwarding incoming email, text, and phone messages); use of CRM (Slate) to record interactions with prospective students and applicants; occasional participation in student outreach, recruitment and engagement events, etc.; other duties related to the admission, orientation and retention of transfer students.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Job Functions
The Operations Specialist and Transfer Credit Evaluator for the office of Transfer Admissions & Engagement will work directly with transfer students, internal and external partners, App State's academic departments, advisors, as well as conduct all necessary communication with other pertinent constituents. Additionally, this position will work with TAE team members to develop and implement new processes or procedures to enhance the transfer student experience to ensure quality customer service.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Support recruiting & admission processes.
  • Written and verbal communications in response to inquiries related to program and application information (e.g., responding to and/or forwarding incoming email, text, and phone messages to the appropriate TAE staff member).
  • Use of CRM (Slate) to record interactions with prospective students and applicants; and work efficiently in a variety of software programs to include Microsoft Office applications, Google Suite, and student information systems (e.g., Banner).
  • Utilize reports and spreadsheets to prioritize and complete work.
  • Analyze and review course descriptions and make decisions to determine the transferability of credits for incoming First-year students, transfer students, currently enrolled students, and prospects before an application for admission is submitted.
  • Identify courses of action and make recommendations to students to enhance transferability of credit.
  • Maintain all data accuracy by running various reports to ensure all data is maintained at a high accuracy rate.
  • Respond to telephone calls and email inquiries regarding transfer work.
  • Assist with interpreting policy and procedures as it relates to admission / credit articulation and for entering data into the student information systems of Banner and Slate.
  • Other duties related to the recruitment, admission, orientation, and retention of transfer students.

  • Experience in customer service
  • Knowledge of university academic principles and practice
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply policy and procedural guidelines and to resolve problems and questions
  • Experience with CRM and / or student information / database systems

Work Coordination: Plans and facilitates the support activities of an office or work unit; coordinates with others to complete tasks. May serve as an office coordinator for a work unit.
