Job Description

Lab Assistant I - Marlborough, MA, Monday to Friday, 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM

Pre-Analytical Assistant I is responsible for general support functions within the Technical Operations Department.

Pay range: $20.10 - $22.01 / hour; employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift. Additional details on shift differential will be provided if an offer is extended.

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

We are currently seeking a dedicated, highly accurate, and energetic Pre-analytical Assistant to join our operations. In this role, you will manage the critical first physical steps of the laboratory testing process. You will be the vital link between sample arrival and clinical analysis, ensuring that patient samples arriving from Patient Service Centers (PSCs) and internal processing are efficiently unpacked, accurately sorted, and swiftly delivered to our testing departments.

Responsibilities:

Transparency is important to us. Here is what your day-to-day will look like and what we expect from you on the lab floor:

Responsibility Area What You Will Do
Intake & Unpacking Safely open transport bags and carefully extract specimens arriving from various Patient Service Centers (PSCs) and internal specimen processing areas.
High-Volume Sorting Accurately and rapidly sort hundreds of biological samples per shift based on department destination, temperature requirements, and testing priority.
Routing & Delivery Act as the primary runner to swiftly and securely transport and deliver sorted specimens to the appropriate clinical testing departments across the laboratory while re-routing misdirected specimens.
Quality & Verification Perform essential visual checks during the unpacking and sorting process to ensure specimen containers are secure, correctly capped, and undamaged before hand-off.
Workflow Management Maintain an organized and continuous flow of specimens from the receiving area to the lab floor, ensuring testing turnaround times are supported.Analyzes opportunities to optimize workflows and improve turnaround times.
Safety & Compliance Strictly follow all safety protocols for handling biohazard materials, utilizing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and adhering to all corporate compliance and PHI regulations.

Qualifications:

Preferred Work Experience:

Previous experience in a production environment

Knowledge:

Medicalbackgroundpreferred which includes medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.

Skills:

Minimal data entry skills
