Job Profile Summary: The Lead Contract Compliance Facilitator/Auditor plans and executes complex contract compliance audits-primarily vendor audits-to verify adherence to contractual terms and safeguard company assets. Working independently with limited supervision, the role evaluates contracts, assesses risk, resolves discrepancies, and communicates results, drawing on strong knowledge of oil and gas operations. May also support joint venture and midstream audits. Job Description: * Conducts risk assessments and gathers stakeholder input for the annual risk-based audit plan. * Plans and scopes vendor and contract compliance audits, including objectives, timelines, and resource needs. * Performs audits in-house and oversees work outsourced to third-party audit firms, ensuring quality and consistency. * Serves as primary point of contact throughout the audit lifecycle, delivering timely status updates, findings, and recommendations. * Prepares well-organized workpapers with fully supported conclusions that meet professional audit standards. * Communicates audit results to all levels of leadership through written reports and oral presentations. * Leads discussions and negotiations with vendors to resolve discrepancies and recover overbilled amounts. * Tracks and reports on the status of open exceptions and recoveries. * Identifies process improvements and recommends enhancements to contract language and internal controls. * Uses technology tools to extract, analyze, and validate transactional data. * Mentors less experienced team members. * Travels to vendor locations and training as needed. Education: * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field. Experience: * 7+ years of progressive audit experience, including contract compliance, vendor, or joint venture audits. * Strong knowledge of oil and gas operations, including drilling, completions, production, and field services. * Working knowledge of common oil and gas contract structures (MSAs, service agreements, rate schedules) and cost provisions. * Demonstrated experience negotiating audit findings and recovering overbilled amounts from vendors. * Proficiency with data analysis tools to extract and analyze transactional data. * Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to leadership. Certifications * A relevant professional certification (CPA, CIA, CFE, APA) is a plus but not required.
