Science Systems and Applications Inc. (SSAI) is looking for an Electrical Engineer responsible for the design, development, testing, and support of electrical and electronic systems for avionics and related applications. This role contributes throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept development and prototype design through product delivery and support. The successful candidate will apply advanced electrical engineering principles to develop innovative, cost-effective, and manufacturable solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and validate electrical and electronic systems for avionics applications.
- Conduct engineering analyses, experiments, and testing to support product development and performance improvements.
- Develop electrical designs, schematics, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Create and maintain test equipment, tools, and test benches as required.
- Perform engineering calculations and establish technical standards and requirements.
- Support projects throughout the full product lifecycle, from concept through product delivery.
- Develop prototypes and ensure designs meet customer, performance, cost, and manufacturability requirements.
- Utilize engineering software and tools to perform design and analysis activities.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for engineering reviews and project planning.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, engineering processes, and project requirements.
- Document designs and support technical, cost, and schedule reviews.
- Contribute to proposal development and new business initiatives.
- Manage multiple priorities and independently resolve technical issues.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline, and minimum of three (3) years of related electrical engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience supporting the complete engineering product lifecycle, including design, development, testing, verification, validation, and design reviews.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, methodologies, and industry best practices.
- Experience designing and testing electrical and electronic systems and components.
- Proficiency with computer-aided engineering and design software.
- Ability to perform technical analyses, calculations, and engineering evaluations.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.
- Effective problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in avionics, aerospace, or other highly regulated industries.
- Experience developing prototypes, specialized test equipment, or automated test systems.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and engineering process compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting proposal development, technical bids, or research funding efforts.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturability principles.
- Experience participating in cost, schedule, and technical design reviews.
- Project planning, prioritization, and coordination experience.
