You Are:

UST is searching for a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to join our Cloud Platform Engineering team, supporting the migration of on-premises workloads to AWS. This role is focused on the compute and OS layer of the migration - standing up, configuring, and hardening EC2 instances and administering the Linux systems that run our re-hosted applications. You will work closely with the rest of the migration team to plan cutover waves, right-size compute, and ensure migrated servers are secure, patched, and production-ready from day one on AWS.

The opportunity:

* Plan and execute lift-and-shift migration of on-premises servers to Amazon EC2

* Build and maintain custom AMIs, instance configurations, and Auto Scaling groups for migrated workloads

* Administer Linux servers - provisioning, patching, performance tuning, and troubleshooting - across the fleet

* Configure supporting networking and security for EC2 workloads (VPC, security groups, NACLs, load balancers)

* Harden and standardize server builds to meet security and compliance baselines

* Automate provisioning and configuration management using scripting and config management tools

* Validate post-migration performance and stability, and remediate issues found during cutover

* Document server architecture, runbooks, and standard operating procedures



This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.

What you need:

* (Must Have) Amazon EC2

* Hands-on experience provisioning and managing EC2 instances at scale, including AMI creation and lifecycle management

* Experience with instance types, Auto Scaling groups, and EBS volume management

* Understands EC2 networking fundamentals - security groups, elastic IPs, placement groups Linux Administration

* Strong hands-on Linux system administration experience (RHEL, CentOS, Amazon Linux, or Ubuntu)

* Comfortable with user/permissions management, systemd services, log management, and performance troubleshooting

* Experience with shell scripting for automation and operational tasks

* Experience with OS patching, hardening, and vulnerability remediation Lift & Shift Migration Experience

* Has led or been a core contributor to at least one on-premises to AWS migration project

* Experience with migration assessment, wave planning, and cutover execution

* Comfortable working with legacy infrastructure and minimizing risk during transition

* Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

* These skills will strengthen a candidate's profile but are not a hard requirement. AWS Certifications

* AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate

* AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional Additional Experience

* Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, or Puppet)

* Familiarity with AWS Application Migration Service (MGN) or AWS DataSync

* Experience with Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation or Terraform)

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

Compensation Range : $87,000-$131,000



Benefits

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.

Part-time employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year) and are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching.

Full-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year) and are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k) program with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance.

Part-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year).

All US employees who work in a state or locality with more generous paid sick leave benefits than specified here will receive the benefit of those sick leave laws.
