Position Summary:
The Data Analyst is responsible for the development, organization, and maintenance of the study database, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and accessibility throughout the project. This role oversees data cleaning, quality assurance, and the implementation of standardized data management procedures to support accurate and reliable analyses. The Data Analyst also collaborates closely with the statistical team by preparing analysis-ready datasets, resolving data-related issues, and facilitating efficient communication between data management and statistical analysis to ensure the timely completion of study objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Research Database Development: Collaborate with the Principal Investigator (PI), Senior Scientist, and research assistants/coordinators to design, develop, and maintain a research database that aligns with the study objectives and data collection protocols. Ensure that the database structure supports accurate, efficient, and standardized data capture across all participating sites.
  • Data Entry Training and Education: Provide training and ongoing guidance to research assistants and coordinators on standardized data entry procedures, emphasizing the importance of accuracy, consistency, and adherence to the research protocol. Educate study personnel on the rationale behind key data elements to promote high-quality data collection that reflects the study objectives.
  • Data Quality Monitoring: Conduct routine data quality assessments to identify missing, inconsistent, or inaccurate data and ensure compliance with established data management standards. Work proactively with study personnel to resolve discrepancies in a timely manner and maintain the integrity of the research database throughout the study.
  • Data Cleaning and Preparation for Statistical Analysis: Perform comprehensive data cleaning, validation, and organization to create analysis-ready datasets for the statistical team. Collaborate closely with statisticians to ensure that datasets are accurately coded, well-documented, and formatted to facilitate efficient and reproducible statistical analyses.
  • Continuous Data Quality Improvement and Communication: Provide ongoing recommendations to improve database design, data collection procedures, and quality assurance processes based on routine monitoring and project needs. Maintain regular communication with the PI and Senior Scientist to identify opportunities for enhancing data quality, optimize workflow efficiency, and support the successful completion of study objectives.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • A Master's degree is preferred.
Experience:
  • At least 1 year of data science, computer science, or data management experience in a healthcare system is preferred.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
