Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior I Engineer - Technology Engineering.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Network Services Implementation and Remote Support, the Sr. I Engineer -Tech position is responsible for daily support of the Medical Centers Remote Sites network infrastructure including levels 2/3 support for all network problem troubleshooting and resolution. It also ensures the smooth operation of communications networks in order to provide maximum performance and availability. Position also supports project implementation efforts in collaboration with peers and Network Architects.

Job Responsibilities:

    1. Responsible for the troubleshooting and repair of routers, switches and all network communications software and hardware supporting the local area, wide area and wireless network infrastructure
    2. Maintain system documentation for the Enterprise Data Networks
    3. Supports all network Moves, Adds and Changes for the Medical Center
    4. Performs routine maintenance and code upgrades for network systems
    5. Coordination of network changes in conjunction with Change Management policies.
    6. Monitors systems alerts, performance and utilization reporting
    7. Provides support for project implementation and equipment installations
    8. Network problem management, reporting and escalation

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
Requires in depth knowledge of Networking systems and protocols, Routing and Switching products, Routing and Switching protocols, 802.11 Wireless technologies, TCP/IP protocols, WAN Protocols, End User Infrastructure Support, Network Management Tools, Cable Specifications, etc.
Must have thorough knowledge of IP subnetting, addressing, and Variable Length Subnet Masks to assist in problem determination and resolution.
Must have experience working with carriers and troubleshooting WAN circuits ranging from serial (T1) to Gigabit Metro Ethernet, fiber optic services
Advanced knowledge of routing protocols; EIGRP, BGP, OSPF
Advanced knowledge of Layer 2 protocols
Minimum Five years experience Cisco Router and Switches.
Minimum Five years experience in large multivendor end-user environments.
Minimum Five years experience working with Catalyst 6500, 6800, 4500, 3850, 3750, series switches
Minimum Five years experience working with 2600, 2800, 2900, 7200, 3600 , 3800, 4400 series routers
Work Experience with Network Monitoring and Reporting tools.
Experience with Cisco Nexus 7000, 5000, 2000 series switches a plus.
Experience working in a datacenter environment a plus.
Experience working with Cisco IP Telephony a plus.
Experience with Network Security Protocols a plus
Experience working with Firewalls a plus.
Work experience in healthcare and/or education or equivalent experience in complex organizations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical ability, decisiveness, strong judgment, and the ability to work effectively with clients, IT management, staff and vendors.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to understand the business and technical needs of the client as well as foster customer relationship building and deliver outstanding customer service.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users; ability to work effectively with customers.
Candidate should be able to work in a fast-paced environment, support multiple initiatives simultaneously, prioritize work to meet and or exceed established service levels and be dependable.
Strong time management, technical and analytical skills required.
Ability to think logically and creatively in problem solving. Should know when to escalate a problem.
Contributes individually with supervision and as part of a team.
Ability to work effectively with customers and other IT team members.
May be required to work weekends and stay late as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Typically requires 4 or more years of experience and BA/BS degree or equivalent.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $84,577.92 - $121,662.48 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
