Job Summary

The Mechanical Production Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting a cryogenic Air Separation Unit (ASU) and its associated mechanical systems. This hands-on role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations through preventive and corrective maintenance of compressors, pumps, valves, motors, instrumentation, and process equipment. The ideal candidate has strong industrial mechanical maintenance experience, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in a continuous-process manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities



  • Operate and monitor a cryogenic Air Separation Unit (ASU) to maintain safe and efficient plant operations.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain compressors, compressor seals, pumps, turbines, valves, motors, rotating equipment, and other process machinery.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on plant equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process equipment issues.
  • Monitor plant performance using PLC, DCS, SCADA, and HMI control systems.
  • Perform plant operating functions, including start-ups, shutdowns, derime activities, and process adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot and support instrumentation, control valves, pneumatic systems, and electronic control equipment.
  • Perform routine instrument calibrations and maintain required calibration records.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, equipment manuals, schematics, and operating procedures.
  • Monitor product quality, process parameters, and production efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, production records, inspection reports, and calibration documentation.
  • Support spare parts management, purchasing activities, production reporting, and maintenance documentation.
  • Participate in safety programs, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, FDA/cGMP, and company safety and quality standards.
  • Support additional maintenance and plant operation activities as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • Minimum of two (2) years of Air Separation Plant operations or industrial mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing compressors, mechanical seals, pumps, valves, motors, turbines, and rotating equipment.
  • Experience maintaining industrial mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process equipment.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve equipment and process issues.
  • Experience using hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and testing instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and equipment documentation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with PLC, DCS, SCADA, or HMI systems preferred.
  • Experience with industrial instrumentation and controls preferred.
  • Knowledge of cryogenic air separation processes, industrial refrigeration systems, or water treatment systems preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a continuous-process manufacturing environment.
  • Must be available to work overtime, off-shifts, weekends, holidays, and participate in an on-call rotation.


Education



  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school, military technical training, or equivalent industrial maintenance training preferred.
