Overview

QuarterLine (QL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Emergency Room Physician to provide patient care services in the Emergency Department Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH) at Fort Campbell, KY. This position plays a critical role in delivering timely, high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment in support of the military healthcare mission. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to respond effectively to emergent and complex medical situations, along with excellent communication and leadership skills. This role is essential in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients, coordinating with interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring a safe, efficient, and compassionate environment for service members and their families.

    Duty Location: Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH), 650 Joel Dr, Fort Campbell, KY, 42223. No Telework allowed.
  • Duty Hours: The performance hours of the MTF are as follows: Emergency Room is open 24hrs a day, 365 days per year, 366 for Leap Year. Examples hours of performance are 0600-1800, 1800-0600, 0800-2000, 1000-2200, 1200-2400, 1400-0200 for ER Physicians. Shift duration may vary anywhere between 8-12 hours. 30 minute unpaid lunch is required. Contractors must provide a minimum of 5-night shift per month. Shifts beginning at 1800, 2000 and 2100 are considered night shifts. When directed by the government, the HCW shall remain on duty to complete patient treatment where lack of continuity of care would otherwise jeopardize patient health.


Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

  • Clinical Competency: Must have sufficient emergency medicine experience to diagnose and treat a broad range of medical conditions and traumatic injuries.
  • Independent Practice: May serve as the sole physician in the Emergency Center during a shift and must be prepared to manage emergencies without additional physician support.
  • Patient Volume: Must see urgent/acute patients in a timely manner and at least 3 patients per hour when emergent workload is low.
  • Emergency Procedures: Must be proficient in procedures including:
    • Incision and drainage, wound repair, foreign body removal
    • Fracture/dislocation reduction and splinting
    • Defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
    • Airway management, intubation, difficult airway techniques, and cricothyrotomy
    • Lumbar puncture
    • Chest tube placement and open thoracotomy
    • Central and peripheral IV access
    • Bladder catheterization and NG/OG tube placement
    • Conscious sedation and rapid sequence intubation
    • Emergency vaginal delivery
    • Diagnostic peritoneal lavage
    • Administration of IV, IM, and subcutaneous medications
  • Diagnostic Skills: Must obtain and document patient histories and physical examinations, interpret EKGs, laboratory results, and preliminary radiographs, and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Critical Care: Must respond to Code Blue events, provide resuscitation, manage cardiopulmonary arrest, and coordinate EMS or specialty support when necessary.
  • Patient Management: Provide immediate emergency evaluation, definitive stabilization, discharge instructions, referrals, and appropriate follow-up.
  • Hospital Coverage: Provide emergency care to both inpatients and outpatients and remain in or immediately available to the Emergency Center throughout the assigned shift.
  • Documentation: Complete timely and accurate medical records, including histories, physicals, diagnoses, treatment plans, laboratory/x-ray documentation, ADS records, and required reports.
  • Medication Management: Must be familiar with the hospital formulary and prescribe/dispense medications in accordance with MTF policies, including dispensing medications after the pharmacy closes.
  • Quality & Compliance: Must meet established productivity/workload standards and comply with all applicable MEDCOM, BACH, Army, MTF, and Joint Commission requirements.
  • Communication & Coordination: Coordinate with consultants, accepting facilities, EMS, MTF personnel, and the COR as appropriate.
  • Professional Responsibilities: Attend required staff meetings, grand rounds, academic activities, and provide resident lectures when required.


Minimum Requirements

  • Degree/Education:
    • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.).
    • Medical School Requirements:
      • A U.S. medical school accredited by the appropriate recognized accrediting body;
      • An osteopathic medical school approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA); or
      • An international medical school with Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification.
  • Experience: Must have extensive current emergency medicine experience (have worked more than 20 hours per week for the previous 12 months in a similar or high-level emergency care setting).
  • Current Certification(s):
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Web-based (on-line) classes are not acceptable by the Government.
  • License: Full, Active, unrestricted medical license (MD or DO) and ability to obtain clinical privileges at the MTF.
  • Additional requirements: NPI, Active DEA registration required. No education equivalency substitutions permitted.
  • Legal Authorization to Work in the United States: The contract worker performing under this contract must be a U.S. Citizen.


Physical Demands

  • Contract workers shall maintain good personal hygiene and present a well-groomed and professional appearance IAW the policy at the place of performance.


Additional Information

  • Background/Security Investigation: The contract worker must be able to pass a government required security investigation and return required documentation timely.
  • Occupational Health: The contract worker shall be required to obtain documentation of required physical testing or a report of a physical examination.
  • Tuberculosis Screening: The Contractor ensure contract workers shall be screened for tuberculosis (TB). In addition, contract worker will be screened prior to reporting for services at the place of performance for the following: N/A
  • Health Requirements. The Contractor shall provide documentation certifying health requirements such as immunizations, annual vaccinations, and physical examination when required at the time of initial placement.
  • Certifications can be recertified at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital on Space-A availability in a non-pay status.
