Job Summary The MGB Medication and Controlled Substance Safety Officer (MCSSO) leads medication safety and controlled substance surveillance programs across one or more MGB locations in collaboration with quality, safety, regulatory, and pharmacy leaders. Responsibilities include identifying and escalating emerging medication safety risks, promoting a culture of meaningful reporting and learning, overseeing controlled substance variance resolutions, and coordinating loss investigations through inventory and surveillance systems. The role also develops multifactor action plans, supports system-level recovery and redundancy strategies for high-risk events, maintains competency with MGB medication safety and quality assurance standards, and ensures compliance with state and federal controlled substance reporting requirements.This role will also be responsible for providing expert pharmaceutical care, overseeing medication safety, and contributing to clinical decision-making. This position involves advanced clinical knowledge, leadership, collaboration with healthcare professionals, and ensuring the safe and effective use of medications to optimize patient outcomes.
