Summary: The Material Handling and Receiving Supervisor (2nd Shift) is a key position and will lead warehouse activities. Partnering with the 1st shift Material Handling and Receiving Supervisor and Sr. Manager, Production and Warehouse, this position will be directly supervising Material Handling and Receiving on 2nd shift. The role will also oversee employees reporting to Shipping and Quality on 2nd shift, and partner with their supervisors in driving required projects and actions to accomplish and sustain site goals and expectations.

Responsibilities include, managing material flow from receiving intake into the stockroom, handling, storage, replenishment for internal customers material needs, and ensure overall quality and speed of service to support the site's business objectives. The incumbent will partner with the 1st shift Inventory lead and Sr. Manager, Production and Warehouse regarding expectations on the movement of inventory, both physical and virtual, the research and determination of root causes of inventory inaccuracies and may assist in determining strategies to address the root causes of the inventory inaccuracies. Position backs up as Site Lead when 2nd shift Production Supervisor is offsite.

Education: High School diploma required. Bachelor's in supply chain or business administration from an accredited institution preferred.

Experience:

Required:

5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with increasing levels of responsibilities including supervision and management of direct labor resources.

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of experience in material handling, receiving, inventory management and organization, and improving inventory accuracy.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience, Six Sigma and/or Lean Certification.
  • Oracle ERP experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage complex problems and multiple priorities
  • Able to effectively communicate with and influence people from all levels of the organization as well as external contacts
  • Requires close attention to detail, strong problem solving and analysis skills and knowledge of manufacturing planning processes
  • Proficient in MS office applications with particular focus in Excel
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to meet customer needs and management expectations.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently handle multiple tasks.
  • Possess conceptual understanding of inventory control requirements
  • Skilled in conducting inventory analysis and problem solving
  • Must have extensive coordination experience in a multiteam environment.
  • Ability to drive root cause analyses

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, manage performance, and direct the activities of personnel to ensure that they support site revenue plan and schedule.
  • Conducts shift huddles to communicate daily action plans, company news and safety alerts.
  • Establish goals for department and direct reports, oversee Shipping & Quality personnel.
  • Ensure that key value creation processes related to stockroom material movement using Oracle are documented on procedures, implemented, and have resources trained to comply.
  • Develop plans to increase the speed of material flow and reduce inventory levels.
  • Partnering with Warehouse Manager and 1st shift supervisors, improve inventory accuracy. Examine methods of facilitating accurate counts for validation and investigating part discrepancies.
    • Investigate and solve problems resulting from shortages/delays to ensure that production is up and running with minimal downtime.
    • Deploy/improve visual management in all stockroom locations by practicing 6S
    • Manage execution of material replenishment from traditional to VMI or Kanban.
    • Monitor and develop scheduling and inventory control techniques compatible with Lean Principles.
    • Resolve discrepancies between inventory and stock-control records.
  • Partnering with Warehouse Manager and 1st shift supervisors, plan the layout and design of the storeroom locations, considering factors such as stock turnover, size and weight to ensure optimum utilization of space and economy of motion.
  • Communicate with all site personnel and levels of management in planning deliveries of material to meet expectations, and make recommendations regarding non-usable, slow-moving and excess stock or opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure safe operation of material handling equipment in accordance with policy and guidelines.
  • Follow and lead all health and safety procedures within department.
  • Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Trains employees on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock; and related problems.
  • Drives FIFO inventory process, stacking pattern adherence and picking from correct bays.
  • Enforces housekeeping and 5S expectations to warehouse team.

Adequate sight (with or without corrective lenses) to read printed materials and computer screen, judge distances, see pedestrian traffic, and read labels or stack heights, plus functional hearing to detect workplace alarms and surrounding noises.

Work Environment: The environment is both office and manufacturing. The manufacturing environment is subject to moderate changes in temperature and the employee will be exposed to typical hazards of noise, flying debris, and overhead hazards requiring the use of proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

Pay Range: $80,000.00 - $80,000.00

This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan.
