13 Position Summary
Technician Energy Measurement performs technical duties in Energy Measurements, including service, repair, and calibration of electronic equipment, gas equipment, field test equipment, shop test consoles, distribution equipment, and PPE test equipment. Extensive documentation. Calibrations & repairs are documented and traceable back to the CPS Energy Standards Lab, and ultimately to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) laboratory. Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to retain an advanced level of technical theory and hands-on technical skill in electronics, electricity, and gas theory and measurements.
Ability to install, certify, repair, and calibrate critical equipment in use at CPS Energy with the guidance of senior-level technicians.
Exercises a high level of independent judgment in skillfully carrying out technical and non-technical responsibilities in a professional manner.
Ability to complete Southwest Electric Metering Association (SWEMA) courses.
Ability to complete Gas Measurement Fundamentals & Gas Instrumentation training.
Ability to clear NERC background check.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and electronic mail.
Ability to safely operate hand & power tools, soldering, electrical and gas test equipment.
Valid Class C Texas Driver's License. Preferred Qualifications

Associates of Applied Science degree in Electronics or related field from a college accredited by the Southern Association of Community Colleges or equivalent regional accrediting body. Required Certifications
Working Environment
Shop, lab, and field environments. Hazardous conditions - high voltage, explosive gases, heights, basements, construction sites, high heat, cold, wet, dirty, and noisy environments, airborne particles.
Field environments include working in close proximity of (and within) energized high voltage substations, outdoor switchyards, and inside power plants. In-town and out-of-town travel for meetings, training, and inter-utility work. Physical Demands
Must be able to lift, move, and carry equipment weigh 55 pounds, with or without accommodation on a regular basis. Must be able to properly identify and distinguish between colors.
