Job Summary

The Receiving Inspector is responsible for inspecting incoming mechanical and electronic components, materials, and purchased parts to ensure conformance with engineering drawings, technical specifications, purchase requirements, and quality standards. This role performs dimensional and visual inspections, reviews supplier documentation, identifies and documents nonconforming materials, and supports Material Review Board (MRB) activities. The Receiving Inspector also provides Quality Assurance oversight of receiving inspection activities and maintains accurate inspection records in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities



  • Inspect purchased parts and materials for conformance to drawings, specifications, purchase requirements, and applicable quality standards.
  • Inspect electronic components, bare boards, COTS items, and items fabricated to internal drawings for defects, damage, dimensional accuracy, fit, alignment, and functional operation.
  • Use precision measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other standard inspection equipment.
  • Review supplier certifications, packing slips, test reports, and other documentation for compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Identify, label, segregate, and document defective, damaged, or nonconforming materials.
  • Provide Quality Assurance oversight of receiving inspection activities.
  • Participate in Material Review Boards (MRBs) to support appropriate disposition of nonconforming materials and processes.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.
  • Support internal and external quality audits as required.
  • Apply applicable AS9100 quality requirements to receiving inspection activities.
  • Work with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and other teams to resolve inspection issues and support production requirements.
  • Perform other related quality and inspection duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • 5+ years of Quality Assurance experience in a receiving inspection environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and blueprints.
  • Proficiency using precision measurement equipment, including calipers and micrometers.
  • Strong understanding of AS9100 standards and quality requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when identifying defects and documenting inspection results.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
  • Ability to identify, document, and appropriately handle nonconforming materials.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to adjust priorities and level of effort based on customer requirements and expectations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain required ECI access.


Work Experience



  • 5+ years of Quality Assurance and receiving inspection experience required.
  • Aerospace, defense, electronics, NASA, FAA, or other highly regulated manufacturing experience preferred.
