Job Summary

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the facility. The role includes cleaning offices, meeting rooms, restrooms, kitchens, dining areas, and high-traffic spaces, as well as performing minor maintenance tasks and identifying and reporting safety concerns. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while following established safety and operational procedures.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning and janitorial duties throughout the facility.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, kitchens, dining areas, offices, meeting rooms, and common areas.
• Wash windows and maintain high-traffic areas to ensure a clean and presentable environment.
• Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance tasks, including replacing light fixtures and unclogging pipes.
• Monitor heating and cooling systems and report operational issues to the appropriate department.
• Maintain an organized janitor's room and ensure cleaning supplies and materials are adequately stocked.
• Inspect work areas for safety hazards and report deficiencies or maintenance concerns.
• Maintain compliance with applicable safety and operational procedures.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred but not required; training may be provided to qualified candidates.
• Knowledge of proper cleaning procedures and the safe use of cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
• Ability to perform basic repairs and safely operate tools and routine maintenance equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness and organization.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Professional and courteous communication skills when interacting with staff and visitors.
• Ability to perform physical cleaning and maintenance tasks, including lifting moderate weights as required.
• MSHA training is preferred; candidates without MSHA training must be willing to complete required training.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Work Experience

• Prior custodial or janitorial experience preferred but not required.
