Job Summary

The Gen AI Product Owner / Product Manager will lead product and feature development for a Customer Operations AI initiative, owning Gen AI use cases from intake and prioritization through delivery, adoption, and continuous improvement. This role translates business problems into actionable product requirements, manages the Agile backlog, coordinates cross-functional stakeholders and technical teams, and establishes measurable outcomes for AI solutions. The position also supports responsible AI governance, change management, user adoption, and program improvements as the initiative scales.

Job Responsibilities



  • Own the Gen AI use-case backlog, including intake, prioritization, sequencing, and ongoing refinement based on business value, feasibility, and risk.
  • Translate Customer Operations business needs into problem statements, epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Serve as the primary bridge between business stakeholders, subject matter experts, operations leaders, and technical development teams.
  • Lead discovery activities, validate requirements, and manage stakeholder expectations throughout product development.
  • Define measurable success criteria for each use case, including accuracy, adoption, deflection, and handle-time improvements.
  • Lead Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and release planning.
  • Track and communicate sprint progress, team velocity, and release status using Agile methodologies and tracking tools.
  • Maintain daily task status and hours in Azure DevOps or equivalent Agile tracking systems.
  • Support responsible AI and governance activities, including intake processes, human-in-the-loop design, evaluation criteria, and guardrail requirements.
  • Coordinate with governance, privacy, cybersecurity, and other stakeholders to support responsible AI implementation.
  • Lead change management activities, including training, rollout planning, user adoption, and feedback loops.
  • Conduct research and benchmarking on Gen AI trends and comparable enterprise implementations to inform product roadmaps.
  • Identify and implement improvements to product governance, intake, delivery, and operational processes.
  • Prepare presentations, documentation, status updates, and other materials for leadership and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Support a customer-centric culture by addressing the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • Proven experience managing an Agile product development team as a Product Owner or Product Manager.
  • Experience with Gen AI, conversational AI, or intelligent automation products.
  • Understanding of how AI solutions are evaluated, governed, and prepared for production.
  • Experience defining evaluation criteria and measurable outcomes for AI-enabled products.
  • Experience with SAFe, Agile program management, and Agile tracking tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira.
  • Experience managing product backlogs, prioritizing competing requests, and sequencing work.
  • Experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and development-ready requirements.
  • Strong cross-functional stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and changing priorities within a complex stakeholder environment.
  • Strong understanding of business requirements and the ability to translate them into technical requirements.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
  • Experience preparing formal presentations and documentation for executive and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Previous experience managing employees or contractors.
  • Ability to support governance, compliance, and responsible AI processes.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.


Education



  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • SAFe, Product Owner, or Scrum certification preferred.


Work Experience



  • Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Analysis, or Agile product development experience required.
  • Experience managing product backlogs and Agile delivery teams required.
  • Gen AI, conversational AI, or intelligent automation product experience required.
  • Experience in utility, telecommunications, financial services, or another regulated industry is preferred.
  • Utility industry experience is helpful but not required.
  • Vendor management experience preferred.
  • Responsible AI or AI governance experience preferred.
