Position Overview

The Behavioral Health Provider is a licensed independent clinical professional who may practice as either a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or licensed Clinical Psychologist and serves as a subject matter expert in mental health and substance use disorders. This role assesses, diagnoses, and treats individuals with mental health concerns, serious mental illness, serious mental disorders, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions. The provider delivers direct behavioral health services, develops treatment plans, provides individual and group psychotherapy, and collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to support continuity of care. The position requires independent clinical judgment, effective interdisciplinary communication, and the ability to provide services within a structured healthcare environment.

Job Responsibilities




  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and evaluations to identify behavioral health needs and appropriate treatment interventions.



  • Assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions, serious mental illness, serious mental disorders, substance use disorders, and co-occurring diagnoses within the provider's professional scope of practice.



  • Develop, implement, monitor, and update individualized behavioral health treatment plans.



  • Provide direct mental health services, including on-site counseling and individual and group psychotherapy using appropriate therapeutic modalities.



  • Provide substance use education and behavioral interventions for individuals experiencing mental health and substance use concerns.



  • Perform psychological evaluations and testing when qualified and clinically appropriate.



  • Identify individuals who may require acute or inpatient mental health treatment and coordinate referrals based on clinical need.



  • Participate in specialized behavioral health programming, including therapeutic community treatment models as applicable.



  • Collaborate with medical providers, behavioral health professionals, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.



  • Support continuity of care through treatment coordination, clinical monitoring, case consultation, and appropriate follow-up.



  • Provide education and training to healthcare professionals regarding behavioral health treatment, continuity of care, and management of individuals with co-occurring diagnoses.



  • Maintain professional documentation and provide services in accordance with applicable clinical, ethical, licensing, and regulatory standards.




Job Requirements




  • Minimum of one year of clinical practice experience at the licensed independent level as an LCSW or Clinical Psychologist.



  • Experience implementing or managing mental health treatment programs or therapeutic community treatment models is preferred.



  • Experience in a detention, correctional, residential, or similar structured healthcare setting is preferred.



  • Must meet the education, licensure, and professional requirements applicable to either the LCSW or Clinical Psychologist pathway.



  • LCSW candidates must hold a current, full, and unrestricted license permitting the independent practice of clinical social work in the applicable jurisdiction.



  • Clinical Psychologist candidates must hold a current, full, and unrestricted license permitting the independent practice of psychology at the doctoral level in the applicable jurisdiction.



  • Clinical Psychologist candidates must meet applicable professional credentialing or health service psychologist requirements based on education, graduation date, and jurisdiction.



  • Must maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross when required for the position.



  • Must meet applicable credentialing and privileging requirements.



  • Demonstrated knowledge of mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, psychotherapy, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions.



  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and individuals from diverse backgrounds.




Education




  • LCSW pathway: Master's degree in Social Work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).



  • Clinical Psychologist pathway: Doctoral degree in Psychology from an appropriately accredited graduate program.



  • Degree-granting institutions and programs must meet applicable accreditation and professional eligibility requirements.
