Position Summary

The Associate Director of Strategic Recruitment and Outreach provides leadership and operational oversight for undergraduate recruitment outreach efforts within Strategic Recruitment and Outreach, a division of Enrollment Management. This position is responsible for supervising Assistant Directors and recruitment staff who execute first-year recruitment initiatives, including off-campus recruitment and campus visit operations. Working collaboratively with Strategic Recruitment and Outreach leadership, the Associate Director implements recruitment strategies designed to support institutional enrollment goals, monitors performance outcomes, coordinates outreach activities, and ensures the consistent delivery of high-quality prospective student experiences. The position focuses on the effective execution of recruitment plans, staff management, operational excellence, and continuous process improvement.

Duties & Responsibilities

Recruitment Outreach Leadership

Implement recruitment and outreach strategies developed by Strategic Recruitment and Outreach leadership.

Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of first-year recruitment activities, including territory management, recruitment travel, high school visits, college fairs, yield programs, and special events.

Monitor recruitment activity completion and ensure alignment with institutional enrollment objectives.

Support initiatives designed to improve application conversion, admitted student yield, and enrollment outcomes.

Identify operational challenges and recommend process improvements to enhance recruitment effectiveness.

Staff Management and Development

Supervise Assistant Directors responsible for off-campus recruitment and Visitor Center operations.

Hire, train, develop, and evaluate professional and student staff.

Plan, assign and review work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met. Hire, train, develop and manage staff to ensure that a qualified staff exists to meet group objectives. Establish performance expectations and accountability measures for recruitment personnel.

Coordinate staff assignments, territory coverage, travel schedules, and event staffing.

Support ongoing professional development and training related to recruitment practices, customer service, enrollment trends, and university policies. Visitor Center and Event Operations

Oversee the execution of campus visit programs and recruitment events through direct supervision of Visitor Center leadership. Ensure prospective students and families receive a welcoming, informative, and high-quality campus experience.

Coordinate staffing, logistics, and operational support for recruitment programs and events.

Monitor event participation and outcomes to identify opportunities for enhancement.

Data Analysis and Operational Management

Utilize Slate CRM and other reporting tools to monitor recruitment activities and outcomes.

Review recruitment, territory, event, and service metrics to evaluate effectiveness and operational efficiency.

Assist leadership in assessing recruitment performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Ensure data integrity, accurate activity reporting, and compliance with university policies and procedures.

Develop reports and summaries supporting enrollment planning and recruitment operations.

Collaboration and Representation

Collaborate with academic colleges, Enrollment Management units, and campus partners to support recruitment initiatives.

Serve as a liaison between Strategic Recruitment and Outreach and campus stakeholders involved in student recruitment.

Represent the University at recruitment events, professional conferences, and community engagement activities.

Participate in special projects and initiatives supporting divisional and institutional priorities.

Other Duties

Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in admissions, recruitment, enrollment management, student affairs, or a related field.
  • Supervisory experience managing professional staff.
  • Experience utilizing CRM systems and recruitment reporting tools.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and project management skills.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate recruitment and enrollment data.
  • Knowledge of enrollment management principles, recruitment practices, FERPA regulations, and student service best practices.
  • Experience supervising recruitment teams within enrollment management.
  • Experience utilizing Technolutions Slate CRM.
  • Knowledge of trends impacting college recruitment, enrollment, and student access.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations related to admissions and enrollment management.
