HDR's Hydropower Engineering group has an opportunity for a Hydropower Structural EIT/Designer in our Charlotte, NC office. The EIT will work with HDR structural engineers and inspectors on various design and construction activities in support of our Hydropower Clients.

In the role of Hydropower Structural EIT/Designer, we'll count on you to:
* Assist the Senior Engineer with the design and analysis of reinforced concrete and/or structural steel.
* Assist the Senior Engineer with compiling engineering reports and memos.
* Assist with note taking and photo documentation of active construction.
* Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of ACI and AISC industry standard techniques and procedures
* Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables
* Perform administrative duties associated with project management for structural design projects
* Work independently on small projects, or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects
* Be self-motivated and be able to work independently as well as with a project team to completion of a task
* Perform other duties as needed

This position is subject to a preemployment drug test.

Preferred Qualifications
* Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
* EIT certificate or ability to obtain within 6 months. Candidates hired without their EIT have the title of Hydropower Structural Designer and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
* Previous structural design experience (internship or full-time work experience) is a plus
* Preference given to local candidates

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering
  • Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RISA, Staad, SAP, Tedds, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
