Project Action Officer - Sr. Associate

Job Summary: Lafayette Group is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and highly motivated individual to serve as the operational coordinator and force multiplier for our federal government clients, providing administrative, reporting, task management, and coordination support across a large cybersecurity organization. This role will act as the central integration point for branch activities and will work closely with other Action Officers, Branch Chiefs, Section Chiefs, business operations personnel, and other stakeholders to improve operational efficiency, ensure accountability, and ensure consistency in processes and workflows. The ideal candidate has excellent communications and active listening skills, is proactive and decisive, and is quick on their feet.

Job Responsibilities:
Executive Reporting & Task/Action Tracking
  • Conduct analysis of technical and policy inputs from various experts and consolidate into high-quality compelling reports and recommendations to senior government clients. Provide detailed status updates, weekly activity reports, leadership dashboards, and recurring operational products.
  • Develop and implement data collection and analysis methodologies and tools appropriate for assigned tasks.
  • Analyze and develop processes to track and assign incoming and outgoing taskers, projects, correspondence, data calls, requests for information, priorities, issue logs and executive actions. Identify and seek direction on conflicting information. Route taskings to appropriate branch sections and drive progress through completion.
  • Identify and lead opportunities to make process improvements, optimize workflows, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Discern between priority needs and be able to navigate and make progress despite instructions that might be unclear.
  • Draft, review, and edit policies and both high-level and technical decision memos.
Operational & Organizational Management
  • Develop methods to more efficiently maintain branch rosters, distribution lists, contact databases, organizational charts, Teams channels, and collaboration tools.
  • Collaborate with government personnel to optimize personnel workspace requirements and office logistics to ensure a smooth and productive environment.
  • Build trusted relationships with stakeholders at various levels and serve as a liaison between branches and other organizations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between senior leaders and lower-level staff.
  • Coordinate and assist in managing cross-functional issues.
Meeting Planning & Administrative Support
  • Coordinate branch meetings, leadership engagements, working groups, workshops, and stakeholder sessions.
  • Develop high-quality internal and external strategic communications products in a variety of professional formats, including slide presentations, executive reports, and talking points.
  • Develop outcome-oriented agendas, polished briefing materials, attendee lists, action item trackers, and meeting summaries.
  • Provide onsite logistical and notetaking support for meetings.
  • Write detailed SOPs, checklists, and other governance documentation.
  • Maintain leadership calendars and coordinate travel arrangements to high-profile conferences, executive meetings, etc.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Management, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting federal operations, executive administration, program management, cybersecurity organizations, or mission support functions.
  • Experience coordinating correspondence for leaders
  • Excellent research, data gathering, analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, and listening skills
  • Ability to think conceptually and strategically and learn quickly
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, adhere to project plans, ensure any conflicts are brought to the attention of the management team, and multi-task
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changes in project scope, timelines, and deliverables
  • Ability to interact, collaborate, and network effectively with all levels of staff, including senior leadership, both internal and on the client site
  • Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and other communications platforms.
  • Ability to obtain entry on duty (EOD)/suitability or a security clearance

Desired Qualifications:
  • Professional experience in IT or cybersecurity
  • Experience supporting DHS CISA programs or initiatives
  • Basic understanding of Agile methodology or PMP project methodology
  • Existing DHS EOD/suitability

Location: Arlington, VA - Hybrid Remote; Occasional On-site at LGI or client office.

Salary Range: $75K - $85K

LGI carefully considers various factors when determining salary, including but not limited to education and training, professional experience, knowledge, skills and competencies, licensure and certifications, contract-specific affordability, and organizational requirements. New employees are not usually hired at the top of the estimated salary range and salary decisions depend on the circumstances and factors for each case. Salary is only one aspect of LGI's generous total compensation package.


Federal Contracts: This position involves working on federal contracts that require all workers on the contract to be U.S. Citizens. Additionally, some contracts may require the ability to obtain a security clearance.
