The department has nine graduate programs, including three doctoral programs (Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education and Practice, and School Psychology) and three
CACREP master's programs (Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, and School Counseling), and offers Ed.S. degrees in both School Counseling and School Psychology. The School Psychology Program, Department of Counseling and Psychological Services, and Georgia State University have a strong commitment to contextualizing interventions and psychological practice to the backgrounds of those we serve.

| Position Description |
The Counseling and Psychological Services (
CPS) Department seeks highly qualified candidates to fill a full-time, non-tenure track position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor in the College of Education and Human Development beginning in August, 2027. The primary responsibility of this position will be to teach core and specialty graduate-level counseling courses, including clinical supervision, in our
CACREP-accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. The successful candidate may also teach graduate students from our other
CACREP (e.g., clinical rehabilitation, school, counselor education),
APA, and
NASP accredited programs. Presence on campus for face-to-face teaching, supervision, and mentoring is an essential component of the position. Additional responsibilities include advising graduate students (master's and doctoral level), and service to the program, department, college, university, and the profession. |

| Preferred Qualifications/Experience |
- Be licensed (or license-eligible) in the State of Georgia as a professional counselor
- Have paid clinical experience as a clinical mental health counselor
- Have the Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS) or the Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) credentials
- Experience with or specialty in clinical supervision and teaching effectiveness at the graduate level
- Experience with or specialty in the areas of ethics, professional counseling practice, group work, or counseling children and adolescents
- Have interest and ability to take leadership roles in the CMHC program (e.g., practicum/internship coordination or administrative program coordination) in the near future.

Knowledge:
o Expertise in key areas of counseling curriculum
o Expertise in clinical supervision.
Skills:
o Effective clinical supervision to support graduate students completing practica and internships
o Strong teaching skills with the ability to design and deliver graduate-level counseling courses.
Abilities:
o Ability to engage in service activities at the department, college, university, community, and national levels.
o Ability to serve as core faculty in a masters-level program in clinical mental health counseling. |
