Koch Ag & Energy Solutions (KAES) is seeking a Cost Analytics Intern to join our Project Controls team in Wichita, Kansas. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting capital project execution by developing cost forecasts, analyzing project performance, and helping project teams make informed decisions. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, construction professionals, and business leaders while gaining exposure to real projects that create value across our organization.

Our Team

The Cost Analytics Intern will support the Project Controls organization and work directly with the Project Controls Leader for Cost Engineering. Our team helps ensure capital projects are effectively planned, monitored, and executed by providing transparency into project costs, forecasting outcomes, identifying risks, and supporting decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.

What You Will Do

  • Support cost analytics for Turnarounds and Capital Projects by tracking spending, forecasting costs, and evaluating performance against approved plans.
  • Analyze project and turnaround financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, then communicate insights to project managers and business leaders.
  • Partner closely with project managers, procurement, finance, operational teams, and plant sites to improve cost visibility and support data-driven decision making.
  • Develop reports, proof of concept dashboards, and analytics tools that provide actionable insights into project and turnaround performance.
  • Assist with workforce planning and cost forecasting activities for turnaround events, including headcount and resource tracking.
  • Monitor large capital project expenditures, commitments, and forecast accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance cost reporting, forecasting, and analytics processes.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Finance, Economics, Industrial Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Eligible for full-time employment on or before Summer 2029.
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Previous internship, co-op, project, or coursework related to cost engineering, project controls, project management, construction, finance, or estimating.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, or problem solving.
  • Experience with data visualization or reporting tools such as Power BI.
  • Exposure to project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, or earned value management concepts.
