Lead Maintenance Mechanic - JLL What this job involves:

As Lead Maintenance Mechanic, you'll serve as a critical technical resource supporting the Operations Manager/Chief Engineer and Regional Operations Manager in overseeing engineering services across assigned buildings. This hands-on leadership role combines direct field support with performance tracking and operational coordination, ensuring our facilities maintain the highest standards of functionality and safety. You'll guide a skilled maintenance team while serving as the technical bridge between field operations and management, directly contributing to JLL's commitment to operational excellence and client satisfaction. This position offers the opportunity to shape maintenance operations, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and develop your leadership capabilities in a dynamic commercial real estate environment.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Lead and mentor the maintenance team by providing technical guidance, distributing work orders, and ensuring quality standards through weekly on-site facility inspections
  • Coordinate staffing schedules and oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of engineering and maintenance work across responsible areas
  • Manage vendor relationships and purchasing procedures while maintaining effective inventory control systems for maintenance operations
  • Monitor and report on performance metrics, prepare monthly and quarterly operations reports, and recommend systems improvements and capital projects to management
  • Respond decisively to facility emergencies while maintaining strict compliance with all safety procedures, hazardous materials protocols, and housekeeping standards
  • Serve as the primary liaison between field operations and management regarding work order priorities, completion timelines, and critical building issues
  • Participate actively in ongoing technical training, safety programs, and operational process improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certification with demonstrated technical competency in building engineering systems
  • Minimum 5 years of technical and supervisory experience in building engineering with proven expertise in facility repair and maintenance operations
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing complex building systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with team members, management, vendors, and clients
  • Working proficiency in computer-based applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook for reporting and documentation purposes
  • Physical capability to lift up to 80 lbs and perform demanding maintenance tasks in various building environments
  • Demonstrated ability to respond effectively to emergency situations while maintaining safety protocols and operational standards
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of an applicable technical training program or trade certification (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related field)
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or building automation systems
  • Background in capital project planning, budgeting, or facilities management operations
  • Familiarity with commercial real estate facility standards, compliance requirements, and best practices
  • Previous experience conducting quality assurance inspections and developing preventive maintenance programs
  • Track record of implementing process improvements or contributing to operational efficiency initiatives
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience with demonstrated ability to develop and coach technical personnel
