You've come to the right place.
YOUR IMPACT
You will help ensure that appropriate insights reach designated audiences, delivering tailored and impactful messaging to build awareness and engagement with McKinsey's distinctive knowledge on a variety of topics.
You will shape the way the firm connects with people-from clients to employees to alumni-strengthening institutional relationships, connections and affiliations.
Through leadership across communications initiatives, you will drive the development and execution of best-in-class global communications programs, events, and publications that will enable client activation and funnel building across all channels. By leveraging strategic project briefs, data-driven insights, and a deep understanding of audience needs, you will ensure communications efforts are aligned with the firm's priorities and deliver measurable impact. You will be a thought-partner for senior leaders and partners, and work to strengthen external relationships. You will proactively shape creative communications content and tactics to showcase McKinsey's capabilities, knowledge, and assets. You will maintain McKinsey's reputation, punctuate its expertise, and bring campaigns to life in relevant ways across channels, platforms, and stakeholders.
You will be based in Boston, Chicago, New York, Toronto, or Washington, DC as part of the McKinsey Health Institute (MHI). Within MHI, you will work closely with MHI leaders and focus area teams across the Institute globally. MHI is an enduring, non-profit-generating institute within the firm that aims to catalyze the actions and investment needed around underinvested areas of health. It does this by convening and activating leaders; advancing research; creating and promoting data and tools; and stimulating investment and innovation.
You will be a thought-partner for senior leaders and partners, and work to strengthen external relationships. You will proactively shape creative communications strategies to showcase McKinsey's knowledge and assets, maintain the firm's reputation, and bring campaigns to life across MHI globally.
In terms of creating effective communications: you will drive high-quality writing and editing by leading/enabling teams to develop clear, structured and engaging written communications (e.g., memos, emails, short-form content, blogs, talking points/scripts, Q&A) that rigorously follow conventions of written English (and local languages when relevant). With cell leaders, you'll manage the firm's reputational risk by mapping strengths/weaknesses and managing opportunities/threats. You will anticipate, identify and respond to reputation risk issues to protect and enhance McKinsey's reputation by reviewing materials and proactively shaping narrative. You'll establish high-quality and consistent branding (i.e., firm's signature voice, visuals, and narrative) across communications platforms and channels in support of relevant brand pivots, ensuring resonance with target audiences and alignment with broader strategic objectives.
In terms of project management and creation: you will play the role of a thought-partner for senior leaders and partners in developing networking programs to strengthen relationships with clients, potential clients and media, and drive meaningful impact through execution and delivery. You'll independently define and direct complex communication strategies, and advance short-term and long-term programs. You will influence and gain buy-in from leaders and stakeholders by leveraging data-driven insights and a deep understanding of audience needs and behaviors. You'll manage development and dissemination of external and/or internal websites and publications. You'll identify, secure, and manage regional partnerships with internal or external stakeholders. You will develop strategy and corresponding metrics to measure impact and implement related data collection/reporting mechanisms, applying analysis to optimize decision-making and outreach strategies across the marketing funnel following firm unified measurement guidelines and frameworks. You'll counsel leadership and leverage their efforts for substantive contributions to the firm's reputation; mobilize relevant junior and senior colleagues across the firm and manage relevant initiatives to maximize outcome.
You'll manage the communications team, including hiring, developing, coaching, and evaluating team members, as applicable. You will coach your team to actively gather audience insight and will share that insight with authors and stakeholders, changing outreach strategies if and when necessary. You'll role model Marketing Mindsets behaviors, ensuring the team receives adequate training, actively uses MM tools, and applies them to drive impactful outcomes and you'll recognize and reward members who demonstrate these behaviors effectively. You will integrate goals/KPIs with larger strategic goals to help prioritize and target your editorial approach.
You will join a group of communications professionals within the firm's Reach and Engagement function in a temporary 8-month capacity. You are someone who thrives in a high-performance environment, bringing a growth mindset and entrepreneurial spirit to tackle meaningful challenges that have a real impact.
In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we'll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities to help you quickly broaden your expertise, grow into a well-rounded professional, and contribute to work that truly makes a difference.
