Position Summary

Assure that all machines within assigned manufacturing cell are properly set up to perform required operations involving all levels of complexity/difficulty. Operate machines as required, and instruct, assist and participate in the work of assigned team.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machines, lathes machines, milling machines, boring machines, and tool grinding equipment.

  • Write and execute programs for CNC machines.

  • Determine work procedures from drawings, sketches, schedules, and blueprints.

  • Repair and make parts.

  • Refine design fixtures.

  • Assist in prototype development.

  • Inspect all work to assure parts manufactured meet print and make adjustments to correct problems if necessary, seeking assistance for variables beyond own control.

  • Follow SOP required within work cell.

  • Understand ISO procedures and know where appropriate documentation is kept

  • 3 - 5 years experience in related field.

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Technical Education or training preferred

Technical Depth and Breadth:
  • Familiarity with Fanuc and Okuma controls.

  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, and complex gauges.

  • Knowledge of complex math related to a machining environment.

  • Ability to read engineering drawings, charts and tables.

  • Familiarity with basic machining equipment repair and preventative maintenance.

Problem Solving and Analytical Skills:
  • Adaptable to a challenging and continuously changing work environment.

  • Exercise good judgment when following, interpreting, and executing work required.

Teamwork and Interpersonal Skills:
  • Ability to work in a team setting tasked with achieving departmental goals.

  • Continuously increase R&D Machine Shop productivity.

  • Must be comfortable working close with the Engineering team to clarify drawing intent and provide constructive feedback.


Communication/Contact with Others:
  • Able to read, understand and follow written & verbal instructions and directions in English.

  • Good oral and written skills required to communicate technical information effectively with internal and external customers and suppliers.

Physical and Mental Demands:

With or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Required to sit, stand, bend & reach.

  • May be required to stand, sit or alternate between sitting and standing for 8+ hours at a time, based on business needs.

  • Require near vision acuity, color vision, and visual accommodation to see and manipulate small parts at near point for extended periods of time.

  • Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity.

  • Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action is required.

  • Frequent lifting of materials <10 lbs., occasional lifting up to 26 lbs.

  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required, may include safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, and/or any other equipment deemed necessary.

  • Exposure to noise and chemicals in a manufacturing work environment.

Pay, Benefits, Work Schedule

Competitive Compensation

  • Pay Range: $28.06/hr to $39/hr
  • Participation in Annual Incentive Program
