Position Summary Are you a Supply Chain Planning Leader ready to make an impact? Our dynamic plant of 55 team members is seeking a Materials Manager for our Parflex Plant located in Manitowoc, WI. In this role you will provide leadership of Supply Chain Management activities in our hands-on plant operation. Supply Chain Management activities will include materials planning, production scheduling, inventory control, information flow and coordination, and asset management. Note: Parker Hannifin does not provide Company-sponsored relocation or visa sponsorship for this position. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities
Work with suppliers, business unit managers, purchasing, other material managers and production planners, IT and other appropriate resources to strategically plan and coordinate the flow of materials and information from customers through procurement to delivery. Matrix management responsibilities with business units and support groups for production planning, shipping, receiving and inventory functions. Provide direct leadership and management of materials management functions. Provide direct leadership, management and support for Shipping/Receiving Team. Lead and manage all procurement and materials management activities including order placement, supplier reduction/evaluation/certification, supplier follow-up, price negotiation and compliance with government procurement regulations. Responsible for the plant's manufacturing resource-planning activities. Matrix responsibilities for personnel involved with the MRP database to achieve and maintain a high degree of data accuracy, integrity, and ownership. Accountable for location/division materials metrics and Standards of Performance. Help define and implement automated systems to plan and track material flow from customers through procurement to delivery. Ensure all the location/division's material management policies are consistent with the inventory control objectives of the Corporation. Facilitate corporate purchasing and materials initiatives including common part numbers, supplier managed inventory, consolidated purchasing agreements, supplier reduction and supplier quality certifications. Advise on supplier managed inventory or supplier-based contracts with customers. Support internal or external audit requirements relative to the planning, procurement or inventory control functions. Prepare and manage departmental budgets within established guidelines. Effectively create and sustain procurement to delivery material and system cost reduction programs. Provide professional development for all materials team members. Explain and support company policies and procedures. Actively support and implement lean principles. Facilitate kanban materials requirement planning techniques Assist with other duties as assigned. Minimal travel as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years applicable purchasing/materials management experience in a world-class, high volume manufacturing environment. Experience in state-of-the-art materials management systems including supply chain management, cash flow and asset management, JIT, MRPII, cellular manufacturing and with APICS/CPM certification preferred. Four-year college degree in business, engineering, or materials management required with certification in materials management and quality preferred. Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts. Working knowledge of Microsoft PC software (e.g., spreadsheets, word processing, databases and presentations).
While this position is office-based, there will be daily hands-on expectations with frequent interaction and assistance needed on the plant floor. Physical Demands to ensure safety may include:
Standing: Ability to stand for 8+ hours during a shift. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Ability to wear required PPE such as safety shoes, eye protection (glasses/goggles), hearing protection, safety vests, and gloves. Repetitive Motions: Frequent use of hands for tasks such as using safety scissors, bending tubing, taping tube, and connecting hose assemblies. Sorting: Ability to sort items by size, shape, and color. Physical Movements: Includes pushing, pulling, kneeling, and squatting as part of daily duties. Lifting: Ability to lift up to 45 pounds safely. Sensory Requirements: Must have the ability to perceive color accurately and hear plant paging, alarms, and other important auditory signals.
