Cybersecurity Future Technologies Consultant
Job Summary: Lafayette Group is seeking a cybersecurity policy and strategy consultant to lead project management efforts for the Cybersecurity Division (CSD) of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) focused on future technologies (FT). This role will serve as an expert consultant facilitating working groups, writing memos, preparing executive briefings focused on topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC), and Industrial Control Systems Operational Technology (ICS-OT). The ideal candidate will be well versed in current and emerging IT and cyber trends and national policies, have excellent oral and written communications, and have demonstrated experience presenting ideas and providing thought leadership to a variety of technical stakeholders in senior government positions.
Job Responsibilities
AI and Emerging Technology Project Management
  • Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders; design solutions that meet client needs while addressing stakeholder concerns; coordinate with government and industry SMEs
  • Facilitate workshops and other activities across multiple subdivisions and branches
  • Actively participate in meetings (e.g., technical working groups, communities of practices) and other tech engagements
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative research and analysis in support of projects to identify key themes and trends.
  • Develop and deliver high-quality products that meet client requirements on schedule.
  • Support strategic planning and road-mapping development efforts and advise client on implementation planning
  • Advise client on implementation planning
  • Define outcomes and standards for technical priorities
  • Provide partnership building support for interagency and international standards work
  • Support the CSD AI use case planning, tracking, and reporting
  • Support AI alignment and incorporation into CSD strategy
  • Develop technical or strategic talking points, background memos and articles, and briefings on AI and other FT topics related the cybersecurity risk management
  • Respond to quick turn CISA taskers related to future technologies
  • Lead a team providing project management efforts across the Branch using ServiceNow and other project management tools and strategies to:
    • Ensure timeliness and quality of deliverables
    • Provide PM support for tactical execution and strategic planning
    • Identify and manage key risks, issues, dependencies, and resource constraints
  • Maintain and update CISA's AI interagency SharePoint site to ensure alignment with current efforts, Executive Orders (EOs), and action plan activities
Research & Development (R&D)
  • Provide PM support and assist with strategy & framework development
  • Track science and technology related action items and how those activities affect future plans, technology roadmaps, project resourcing and CSD plans and policies
  • Develop talking points, guidance, governance policy, executive briefings and other R&D documentation
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Public Policy, or other relevant field
  • 10+ years of experience in a cybersecurity policy, strategy, or technical role
  • Understanding of current cyber industry standards and frameworks
  • Knowledge of security governance structures, operating models, and national cyber policy landscape
  • Experience managing multiple project milestones, components, and work products in line with industry recognized project management best practices
  • Excellent research, analytical, critical thinking, and listening skills
  • Ability to think conceptually and strategically and learn quickly
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, develop and adhere to project plans, ensure any conflicts are brought to the attention of the management team, and multi-task
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changes in project scope, timelines, and deliverables
  • Ability to interact, collaborate, and network effectively with all levels of staff, including senior leadership, both internal and on the client side
  • Experience delivering briefing materials, analyzing trends in large information sets, and providing recommendations on business processes and workflows
  • Ability to understand complex cybersecurity program policies/plans/directives, and then apply knowledge to project activities
  • Experience leading oral discussions, presenting project status, and proposing solutions to managers or clients

  • Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and other communications platforms.
  • Ability to obtain entry on duty (EOD)/suitability or a security clearance
Desired Qualifications
  • Holds an IT, AI or cyber-related certification (e.g., CISSP, CISM, AAIR, AIGP)
  • Experience supporting CISA programs (preference for Cybersecurity Division experience)
  • Experience with, or the ability to quickly learn ServiceNow and JIRA
  • Existing DHS or CISA EOD/suitability

Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000

LGI carefully considers various factors when determining salary, including but not limited to education and training, professional experience, knowledge, skills and competencies, licensure and certifications, contract-specific affordability, and organizational requirements. New employees are not usually hired at the top of the estimated salary range and salary decisions depend on the circumstances and factors for each case. Salary is only one aspect of LGI's generous total compensation package.

Federal Contracts: This position involves working on federal contracts that require all workers on the contract to be U.S. Citizens. Additionally, some contracts may require the ability to obtain a security clearance.
